Will Penn St have over 4 wins combined the next year?

I meant to say the next 4 years.

Every good player is going to leave and nobody good is going to come. Might as well be the death penalty. Seems like the perfect way to punish a program while making sure that none of the kids are punished. The players leaving easily just adds to the school's punishment.

RIP Penn St. You will be SMU for the next 20 years.

I dont think you will see a large number of starters leave PSU, nor will the team "crumble".

The long term goal for the GREAT players is to make it to the NFL, and they still have that chance.

Why wouldn't they just transfer to Ohio St and play right away?

Because at OSU the next 4 years they will have top flight recurits coming in who could steal your spot as a starter.

I think the next few years of recruiting will be hard for PSU, but the players who are already there will IMO for the most part, stay there.

Well, PSU was a top flight program and they can find another top program to go to and play immediately. And there are lots to choose from. I know I would get out of dodge.

Keep in mind the other top flight program also has a current kid(s) there who already knows the system, and is a the starter.

At PSU if you are a top flight player (nfl quality) and you stay the loyal course, you have a job for life either in the NFL of the PSU community. IMO the loyality the players give to PSU will be repaid in some form or another.

I do NOT think PSU will "crumble" in 2012, but agree without a doubt things will be hard in 2013, harder in 2014, and a REAL bitch in 14 and 15.

Keep in mind the team a player wants to transfer to, may not even have a scholarship available.

Fair points, I hadn't looked at it like that. I just think it's pretty depressing to go into a season knowing that your team can't go to the postseason and can't even win a conference title.

Imagine how an Ohio State fan feels.

OSU has 4-5 guys who trade things THEY OWN for under market value for tats, and OSU can't be in a bowl game, and has the head coach who is in his prime fired. NOW that sucks...........

It's a little late in the game to be transferring out and immediately starting for another team. More than likely they'll be sitting on the bench for a year. Much will depend on what kind of player we are talking about. A young blue chip recruit MIGHT be able to transfer and start right away at a lesser school. But at a school like an Ohio State they'll be sitting on the bench for awhile.

OSU and PSU both did the same thing: they covered up a scandal in order to keep winning. Lying is lying, and compromising your morals is just that. Yeah, child rape is worse than tattoos, but the thought process of covering it up is the same.

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm no.

The thought process at OSU was "wow I hope they don't find out players sold awards they owned, and I hope they don't sell anymore"

The thought process at PSU was "wow I hope they don't find out we have a coach he puts his wiener in boys bottoms, and we hope he doesn't do it again" (even though we know he has done it numerous times in the past.

The risk OSU took was players selling/trading more pins.

The risk PSU took was more children being raped

No. The thought process at Ohio State was Tressel damn well knowing that his star QB (and several others) would be ineligible (if he reported it) because they took improper benefits and Tressel kew that he had a national championship-type run that season, so Tressel (and Gene Smith, the still-employed AD) decided to cover-up the scandal so he could try and go undefeated and win the NC.

Penn State covered it up just to keep the machine chugging along, and the wins to keep coming.

It's the same risk, its just a different crime.

So if OSU players tell Tressel "coach we won't do it again" and the players lie, what happens is the players trade pins again.

If Sandusky told Jo "Joe I won't do it again" and Sandusky lied, what happens is more kids get raped.

Do you REALLY consider that the SAME risk?,

I don't really follow you, but, TO ME, this boils down to the fact that both monstrously-large football factories came across a scandal that they both had the chance to report to the NCAA/proper authorities, but decided not to because it would harm the on-the-field product of winning football, which was (in both cases) decided (by Tressel and JoePa, respectively) to be more important than their morals or values.

What they uncovered isn't the point for me, it is how they reacted that is important.

What was uncovered IS THE POINT.

Tressel looked at it and thought, WTF............ come on guys, don't trade 200 dollar pins.

Jo looked at it and thought "damn, there goes that crazy jerry again, putting his wiener in boys butts"

Trading Pins is s foolish stunt, raping a child is a sick crime.

The first thing anyone does is lie to protect their job..very common; being a "team player"; not being a "stool pigeon"; is extremely important in U.S. society; why is everyone surprised; hell yes; all of you would have looked the other way; and if you dropped a bar of soap in the shower room; well let it lay.

yeah; that's the truth..
