Tuesday: An ugly 4-6, - 8.2 units. I still liked this card. Who would have known that Saunders and Will Smith would pitch like they did? Oh well, almost no excuses.
Washington-1. 4 units. The Nats are putting the nail in the coffin in this one. They can devastate a team in any series with great pitching each and every game. As with other teams, the Mets are shifting from competitive to just ordinary. Other than Atlanta, Strasburg has been deadly this year. He has learned how to take something off his fastball, giving it more movement and trust his very good off speed pitches. He will pitch to contact in parks like Citi Field and Marlins Park, which are more pitcher's parks. Yet batters are not making much good contact, hitting .232 and only 3 HRs in his last 3 starts(2 of those were in Coors). Strasburg also adds a nice bat. The Nats have a huge advantage in BPs. The Mets will likely need it since Hefner is more of a 5 inning pitcher who will need amazing command to stay in this game. The Nats saw him in June while the Mets haven't seen Strasburg since April 11th. Since the Mets hitting attack has also regressed a bit, this makes this Strasburg/ strong BP combination even better. The Nats would love nothing better than to make the Braves and Mets a distant second. Bryce Harper is also becoming the hitter scouts thought he would be.
