Why would a book not have week 1 NFL lines up yet?

I noticed that most, if not all books in Vegas have lines up for the NFL week 1 match ups.

Vegas books seem to be MUCH more conservative than most offshore. So why would a book like Bovada not have these lines up yet? What are they afraid of?

I know Bovada/Bodog has always been a scared and square book. But I dont get why they wouldnt put the lines up.

Can anyone that has been on the other side of the counter explain?

maybe the books are scared of injuries and or suspensions/arrests? agree that they should have the lines up, just have small limits.

Injuries, suspensions, arrests, etc. can work either way. In favor of the book, or in favor of the player.

I just dont get the logic why a book that has been around forever wouldnt put these lines up right now. I guess maybe there is no good logic or answer. The simple explanation might be that Bovada sucks.

Just seems like bad business to me.

Perhaps they dont want their players tying up there money? They would rather have them gamble with it and lose it, then have to re-up come September?

If they are scared, then put small limits on the bets like 22 said. Or charge -115 or -120 to help offset any perceived "risk".

why care, shit league starts about a month from now. You'll have plenty of time to get your action down.

I dont care. I make most of my bets in the state of Nevada anyway.

I was curious so I posed the question. Didnt see the logic behind a book not putting up lines yet.

Thanks for bringing nothing to the thread except being an asshole. Have a nice day.
