The coverage appeals to pedophiles, people who like going for a ride on a bike and the usual suspects who follow tennis or soccer. Swimming appeals to people who miss Oprah and track and field might be watchable if there is nothing else to do. The main problem, in the US, is that it's about one hour of action spread over six hours of coverage that includes the usual overcoming adversity stories, chronic talking heads and commericals for McDonalds and NBC's lame fall line-up of new shows. Everyone has a sob story as they are paid by the government to exercise.

@)I thought the opening ceremony where they depicted the history of England was fabulous. I'm not much in the arts and theatrical stuff , but that had to be the best coroegraphed production of all time. (altough Sir Paul fucking sucked)
As far as the games , not much in to it.
I did watch a little fencing , i thought it would be better if they only wore a loin cloth , those alien looking outfits take all the fun away.

I sat down last night to watch it and tried to give it an open-minded chance, as I rarely watch any Olympics.
I watched for over a half hour and all I saw were commercial after commercial and some human-interest stuff, not one event in that time frame.
So I will give it a zero for entertainment value. They just have to do a better job of showing the competition, live or taped...doesn't matter to me.
