I'm thinking about getting Directv, they have a deal going on through the end of August. A 2 year commitment; 210 channels, with 2012 NFL package for like $39.99/month for the first year, but like $79.99/month for the second year. Does anyone have Directv? If so, what are your thoughts on their (customer) service.

I have been with them for years. No problems up until recently when I moved. They wanted me to sign a new 2 year contract to get new equipment. I wasn't happy about it so I told them I was going to cancel and switch to Dish. They offered me a ton of stuff to stay, just had to be persistent until I finally got a decent deal.

they're desperate. a family close to mine called and complained when they cut all those channels. got a reduced bill, free premium channels, additional box and some other shit just to stay. then the channels came back anyway lol.

I agree that it's a must if you're a big sports fan (which most of us probably are.) I have had it for about 5 years and would never go without it. You can get the ticket cheaper.

I'm ready to leave Cox cable. My bill is running $170 a month. I started at $99 a month for cable, internet and phone. So how did it get to $170 you ask? Had to get two boxes for HD. Throw in a couple of premium movie channels, and voila, I'm up to $170.

Direct has a promotion for about $73 for 24 months that includes two DVR boxes and HD for life. This includes phone and internet connection. Don't think their internet connection will be as fast as Cox as Cox is rated about the fastest in the nation. But you get a million movie channels for at least 3 months. Cox also gives you the Red Zone for $39.95 for the season. direct however has the NFL games for the season but you have to pay for it!

So what sounds like a good deal?

DT is great..much better than dish.

After your contract is up, call and say you wanna cancel, they will take $$$ off the bill.

I got for 100 when I called to complain about Viacom channels. I didn't miss them but it was a good opportunity to get something cheap

Only reason to get it is NFL. Signal goes out all the time, it's awful. I'd rather watch local games assuming your favorite team is local, because you'll get 4 in the afternoon, sunday night, monday night, thursday night anyway. Verizon and many others have a redzone channel that will keep you in the loop on everything important which in my opinion is a better way to get all the relevant info at once.

You must have directtv. NFL SUNDAY TICKET is totally free for the first 2 years.

And if you say that someone refers you, like myself, then you get $10 off of your bill for the next 10 months IN ADDITION to all of the other discounts. Someone gave me a promo code for referral when i signed up and i know that i get $10 off each months bill and it is itemized and shows what it came from. Then my sister signed up through me and i got another $10 off in addition to the original $10 that i got from the promo code

You just have to mention the code when you first order 58883933

I actually cancelled all of the movie channels after the 3 month period, but the guy on the phone literally would not let me cancel them all. He ended up giving me HBO for $5.99 for 6 months if i just kept that one movie channel. I agreed of course

I have it. It's pretty good...but pricey. I'd prefer FIOS, but when I moved to this house it wasn't available here (still isn't).

I've had FIOS, Comcast, & FIOS. FIOS is - by far - the best.
