I bring up this question with current events in mind, Boy Scouts and Chick-fil-A

Seems like companies are being forced go against what they believe (right or wrong) and can not stand up for themselves or voice their opinion. . . does this go against being a "FREE" country

The civil rights act actually forced private companies to hire blacks. Is it free? No. I say instead of force, let the market take care of the bigoted companies. Don't like bigots? Don't do business with them, problem solved.

Chick Fil A should have never opened up their mouth on the topic of a gay lifestyle. Should have simply said next question. You never want to pick a side and alienate half your customer base.

With that said, gay marriage is the agenda right now. With AIDS being pretty much a dead issue these days and Hollywood behind the cause. GLAAD wants to convince the country that if you find a same sex relationship to be well :puke1:then you are a bad, hateful person and are wrong for believing in your religion. The reality is there are probably 20-1 gays that remain sleeper cells because they are ashamed of their own lifestyle and don't have the courage to stand up and fight for their own cause. Even if they legalized gay marriage everywhere would that make every gay person finally live an open life and actually show pride in what they are or will they continue to cower in their closets and not embrace their lives. They also need to stop trying to say their struggle is the same struggle black people and women went through. You can't disguise your race or gender and duck down in a foxhole and surface only when it is convenient for you. Blacks had to endure the racial slurs and spitting and segregation head on. When GLAAD realizes it isn't the churches or the government restricting them and they finally call for their own kind to embrace publicly what they are then they will have enough important and loved and respected people to win their cause.

That is an outrageously ridiculous distortion of the Civil Rights Act. Holy fuck, what is wrong with some people?

thats precisely what makes it a free country...a private company should be able to reject anyone for any reason....on the same note WE can choose to punish that same company by not purchasing products or participating in anything they do.

the pussy scouts want to reject gays, fine.... i would never send my kid there and when they are selling brownies or whatever the fuck they do to scam money for their half ass wannabbee military uniforms I will exercise my rights to laugh at them and not buy...

when chic fil a wants to hate on gays, they can suffer the wrath of that movement and see a decline in sales....society and markets will deal with this type of activity way better than the government.

if you think about it the civil rights act should be re-written to say that companies that discriminate must pay a tax... just like obamacare taxes a company that doesn't buy health insurance.

all you need to be free is enough money to pay the tax

don't want to hire gays = pay a tax
don't want to pay women same pay = pay a tax
don't want to buy healthcare = pay a tax

this way the government will redistribute your money to the people you don't want to give it to.

"Chick-fill-A " has never said a word about gays, never had a company policy about discriminating against anybody and i challenge anyone to show me otherwise. A 90 year old man gave his personal opinion and Marxist Leftist's who believe anyone that doesnt believe as they do should not be protected by the 1st Amendment are throwing a hissy fit...
Chick-fil-A meanwhile has a 40% increase in customers in the last 10 days and tomorrow will be the biggest sales day they have ever had...

Reasonable people wouldn't care either way. Starbucks CEO pro gay and I don't. Do I care about his pro gay comments? Maybe, but I certainly care more about the quality of the coffee. I've been drinking Starbucks coffee all my life and I continue to do so regardless what is his belief. No one will remember Chic fil A story one month from now.

i agree and I am not saying I care either. The point I was trying to make is that we should let markets and society deal with these types of issues.

i personally could care less about gay marriage, but the heat chick-fil-a is taking is ridiculous. it's not like they don't serve gays, or banish them from their establishment. get over it.

Wow. You really are a joke. So care to reveal your information pertaining to sales volume since this broke? You say WAY up, whats your source? How do you know this? You must be a board member because the company doesnt report monthly sales volume to the public.

Come on loomis I dare you to prove how you know this. You seem to be very knowledgable on a wide range of subjects. Show me how clueless I am. Go ahead and put chic fil a sales in Google and put that article up.....

Let me guess you will call me "son" again and tell me how stupid I am. And that you are going to be my demise or whatever idiot thing you said last time.

So Loomis why dont you fill us in about yourself. What do you do in real life? How old are you? Whats your story? Why do you follow me around like a puppy looking for attention? Well now you have my attention. Tell me what you are all about.

I voted they should be able to run it they way they want.

Now with that being said, they wouldn't be able to qualify for any tax credits or abatmeor stuff like that if they didnt agree to serve all members of society

I don't think it's a distortion. Certain companies were not hiring blacks, nor allowing them to eat at their establishment, it's not a distortion it's a fact. The civil rights act fixed that. The country hasn't always been as peachy as it is today. I never said it was a bad thing, the civil rights act had a purpose and was needed. Just saying being an owner of a business doesn't give you the right to have publicly bigoted opinions, and it's nothing new.

This is the shit that pisses me off. Not one word was ever said ( or even hinted at ) by Chick-fil-a about not serving anyone for any reason, and actually they expressly made it clear that this wasn't about not serving people. But yet we've got people ignorantly claiming they are discriminatory. Bullshit.
