How about salads with oil and balsamic vinegar dressing? Add some garlic, tabasco and salt and pepper to the veggies and you got an enjoyable salad. Surely theres some vegetables you enjoy?

Over the past year and a half I've managed to lose close to 45 lbs. Eating a lot of salads at lunch has helped alot. I put a lot of "healthy" toppings on such as shredded carrots, red & green peppers, corn & endamame mix, beets . . .I really like balsamic vinagrette -even non fat tastes great. Buy a variety of fruit and make a salad with that, top it with your favorite low or non fat yogurt. For added crunch add a 1/4 cup cheerios. Granola is better but has much more sugar. Use and asian
marinade for salmon and throw it on the grill or perhaps a dry rub. I assume you are trying to shed a few pounds. Maybe you are luckier than me, but I had to drastically reduce my alcohol intake. Whatever you eat cut back on meat and add a lot
of whatever veggies you like. As far as specific recipes, I just use google and I can find practically find anything I need.

ive been eating healthier since moving in to my new house this past week. lots of simple meats and salads. i have found different spices can really change the taste of meat and taking "eating chicken" all the time much more enjoyable. I am a big fan of caribbean jerk seasoning and also some of the montreal steak type seasonings. id also suggest getting a fresh black pepper grinder. ive mostly been grilling a steak or chicken each night cutting it up and tossing it on a salad or spinach green leaves, add in a diced hard boiled egg, a tad of cheese and some reduced italian dressing and knocking it out.

also switch from white type of breads to those 8 oats type of bread (which has been surprisingly good). also eating more yogurt/fruit where it might have been ice cream or a piece of cake before. Im basically only drinking whatever besides a few random beers or mixed drinks. sugar free jello is a good way to go if u want to feel like ur cheating, but dont really want too

Not cooking related but I have been buying those individual servings of applesauce and mixed fruit cocktails. I eat one of each for breakfast in the morning. Basic Corn Flakes are good also with maybe a sliced peach on the side. I might also suggest a One A Day Vitamin with a some Orange Juice. I feel much better since I have been with the One A Days for a few months.

invest in a slow cooker and wok.

slow cooker has endless possibilities and talk easy.

You need a gas stove for the wok to work best. Asians live a hell of a long time so they must be doing something right

I do have aslow cooker, would love some healthy slow cooker reciepes...

trying to lose some weight..... bigger than I ever been,,, I was doing well running during football season last season, that broke, got a gym membership but havent been since june... going back this week.....

I rarely ever drink.... alochol, or soda.....

It's just overeating, I love food....

I grill often, so i plan to do everything I can with chicken. I have 7 new reciepes, all low cal, that I am going to try out, just got back from the store, ill share if any are good...

Trying to eat under 1400 calories 5 out of 7 days a week for 2 weeks to start. then adjust the plan from there..... any reciepes would help!

Only 1400 a day? How much do you currently weigh?

1400 a day is rough man. try a little higher to start, and taper your way down. if you starve yourself right off the get-go, chances are that old habits will resurface in a hurry. if you're trying to lose weight, don't try to get it all at once. with your commitment to a new diet, the exercise should be present as well. since you got a gym membership, you'll be taking the appropriate measures to weight loss. if you are really serious, DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. write down your ingested calories (more important) and also what you burn at the gym if using a machine (not 100% accurate because everyone is different, but you'll have a rough idea.) if you want to lose weight, take every measure you can to stay strict.

Fantastic advice above...

I would shoot for 500 calories under your maintenance (how many calories you burn in a day and subtract 500). A "decent" rule of thumb is if you weigh say 200 lbs, times that time 15 and that's roughly how many calories you should consume in a day and subtract 500 from that (so for example 3000 calories a week and you could/should lose 2lbs a week). You will be amazed how much food that still is if you eat healthy. Try to divide your calories into 4-6 meals in a day and exercise.

Good luck!

DAY 1 SUCCESS!! Delicious recipe !!

I guess I need to find my "maintence calories"

but HUGE SUCCESS TODAY!

Found Spicy Chipotle Grilled Shrimp, although mine was barely spicy, def going to kick up the spiciness nxt time.. ONLY 150 CALORIES PER SERVING!

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/spicy-chipotle-grilled-shrimp/detail.aspx

I did half of the recipes, it said 6 servings and fully believe it would of served 6 people...

I had it with a large salad: mix greens, tomato, cumcumber, little bit of bacon bits and just a couple croutons with italian dressing.....

The shrimp was amazing on the salad too. very very good...

I also had some red pepper and onion that I cut up and put on a skewer and threw on the grill for a little more veggies.. (had to put on before shrimp, takes a little more time to cook)

shrimp couldn't be easier to make, only took a couple mins on the grill. i marinated it for 30mins, will give myself more time next time.... hopefully will soak up more spice that way......

awesome awesome recipe

Maintenance is 3000 Calories, thats embarrassing that I've been gaining weight...

New Goal LESS than 2000 a day.... that 600 seems to be a big difference to make this easier... My goal is to do this the rest of August, with 7 days were I eat what I want... at the gym 3 days a week, although that would be the min

excited that my first recipe was so good tasting, will make this once a week.....

Day 2 Success! A great very flavorful chicken recipe below

I started off the day at lunch, I meant to eat some fruit in the morning but forgot.. Hard to break the habit of not eating in the morning....

Lunch: "Zesty Tuna Salad" Was pretty good. I am use to loading it with mayo so it looked really weird but didn't lack any flavor. I ate 2 servings a little over an hour apart

RECIPE HERE: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/zesty-tuna-salad/detail.aspx

Dinner was GREAT!

Chicken with Asparagus and Roasted Red Peppers
RECIPE HERE: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/chicken-with-asparagus-and-roasted-red-peppers/detail.aspx

I don't know how much a half of pound of Asparagus is, but I used half of the bunch.. I wanted more asparagus, probably use the whole thing next time. Was extremely flavorful.

maintenance = neutral energy balance. there really isn't a "set" maintenance number. it all depends on what you take in, and what you put out on any given day.
