Freakin' S&H Green Stamps... I used to have to help my mom put those in books. Never once did I finish the job without at least one paper cut on a finger.

They used to give them out at grocery stores. A purchase of a certain amount would earn a certain number of stamps. The stamps were then pasted into booklets and those booklets could be redeemed at Green Stamp stores for various items (I seem to remember kitchen appliances being one of the main things available).

It's been years and years since I've seen a Green Stamps book, so my memory is a little hazy, but I don't believe it was every grocery store. Seems like it was just chains with a relationship with the company. They were sort of a kickback deal. I imagine the member stores subsidized the S&H Green Stamp stores.

I remember quite a few of those, not quite 25 cent gas or 15 cent McD's but still a lot of them.

The fire escape tubes seem like a decent idea ?
