I have a weird habit after winning a bet. And another weird habit when I bet totals while watching a baseball game.

OK I will tell you both of these weird habits.
I bet some of you have weird habits so maybe since im telling you mine, you will tell me yours.

1) I dont watch nearly every game I bet on but when I do when the game is over if the play wins I will verbally thank the team that won me the bet.

For instance if I bet on the Braves and they win I will say verbally every last time thank you Braves for winning that for me.

Even if there is someone in the room I will figure out a way to say thank you verbally without causing a scene. Yes I know its stupid.

I just have this superstition that if I thank them, they will help me with future plays.

Yes I know. Its insane! LOL but I have been doing it since my first bet ever.

Even if its not a game I watched. If I see the score on the bottom of the screen on ESPN and it won I will thank them while watching sports center.

True story sadly.

#2) Yes this one is worse.

I only do this one when im watching a baseball game on TV that I bet on the total.
It cant be done any other way. Otherwise I would probably do it for all games.

I have only been doing this one for 2 years because it was not possible until the last 2 years.

Here goes.

If you have Direct TV and the MLB extra inning package you know that you can watch the broadcast feed from both teams.

For instance if you are watching the Cubs and the Cards you can take your pick and either watch the Cubs version or the Cards version.

You have this option with every game.

If I bet a total.
If I bet the under I put the channel on the team thats pitching.
After every half inning I switch the channel to home broadcast of the team thats pitching.

The reason I do this is because Im pulling for that team at that moment so I might as well show my support by watching there home broadcast while that teams pitcher is pitching. I want to see him get the other team out.

Then I will switch over to the other broadcast when the other teams pitcher pitches because I want him to get everyone out to.

If the game goes under I of course thank both teams verbally for pitching well and hitting bad.

If I bet the over I will do the opposite.
I will put it on the channel of the team batting because I want them to score runs.
So I put it on the team thats hittings home broadcast so I can support them because I want them to score. I do this 18 times during the game.

Then if it goes over I verbally thank the pitchers for sucking and the hitters for being awesome.

I have several times told myself this is stupid and idiotic.
I have told myself "Im not going to do this anymore"

So every once in while I will force myself not to do these dumb superstitions anymore.

Guess what happens next?
Yes you guessed it. A big losing streak starts so I go back to doing it again.

LOL

There you go.
Does anyone else do anything remotely this dumb?

Funny you mention that , i do the exact same thing on #2.

If i got under i switch to the pitching teams announcers , if i got over i watch/listen to the hitting team announcers.

i can relate to #2 but switching back and forth is a bit much for me.

but when I listen to a radio feed of a game I bet on, if i have a choice I will always go with the feed from the team I bet on.

How about when you lose? What do you do then?

For me if a team loses in the bottom of the 9th after they were ahead I'll say f off you c*** sucking mother fu**ers.

Or if I bet a football or basketball game and I bet on the favorite and it becomes obvious they aren't going to cover, I'll root for the dog to win outright. If they can't win for me, they might as well lose themselves. F EM!

I had a feeling im not the only one.

You see tonight is a good example.
I had Tampa with a 1 run lead.
I was doing the back and forth thing till the 7th inning.

Then I went to take a shower in the 8th.

I come back and Seattle comes back in the bottom of the 9th to win the game.

It happens everytime.

I light a candle for luck during college football games. If the game starts going south, I blow the candle out hoping this might influence the down team to pick up a fumble and return it for a touchdown etc. Some nights the candle is your friend and some nights you blow out the candle.

Chop,

Do you have any OCD type behaviors in other parts of your life? If so, maybe there is some sort of correlation?

Im sorry for taking that shower man.
I guess I need to instal a tv in the bathroom with a water proof remote to avoid this from happening in the future.

Obsessive compulsive disorder.

Many "gamblers" suffer from it.

Maybe OCD has nothing to do with it for you. Maybe this is just simply being superstitious. I dont know. I aint no Dr.

If Im betting the under of a football game many times I play a game within the game by covering the time left in each quarter on the tv. I manually try to keep track by counting seconds in my head and writing them down after each play and then adding them up and comparing to real time when change of possessions happen. I win the side game by there being less real time in the game left than I had originally guessed.
