What the hell just happened in the CWS/Toronto game?

Bases loaded with no outs and Dwayne Wise lofts a fly ball down the left field line.

Clearly in foul territory, E. Encarnacion dives and they rule the ball a catch but on the transfer the ball comes loose. Understand if they called it a catch which allowed two runs to score but...

D. Wise was on first with not outs still?

WTF happened? Either he caught it and two runs scored or it was fair, he dropped it and two runs scored.

The ball was clearly in foul territory.

Anybody watching this?

It was looking like it might go foul, but he did try to catch while still in fair territory. But it also might have dropped fair anyway very close.

When the ball touches his glove it was clearly in foul territory. It doesn't matter if Encarnacion was in fair territory or not. If the ball is foul, it's foul.

not true Enfuego, but it did look like to me it may have been going to drop fair anyway. I seen no harm in the play. anyway Toronto cant score anyway.

What is not true?

"An outfield fly ball is judged to be fair or foul by the relationship of the ball to the foul line at the moment it first touches the ground, or where it first touches a fielder. If the ball touches a fielder in-flight, the judgment is made at where the ball was when it was touched, NOT from where it may land after a miss, or drop of the ball, by a fielder. The position of the fielder is irrelevant. You only focus on the ball and the foul line."

The ball was clearly dropping foul.

You need to go look at the play again it wasn't honestly was trying to be fair and help feel your pain. But it would have dropped fair to be quite honest with you. I watched the play 6 or 7 times.
