Coaches have no business being involved in this decision. Since they currently are, I assume that this question means to lean toward the 2014 season. Analyzing the playoff potential of 4 teams should be a full time job. Coaches dont have time for that.

I dont think coaches see much film of teams that arent on their schedule. Add in some late season flipping and dropping of certain teams and you have to assume there is some strong nepotism amongst the coaches.

Coaches are too busy coaching to be keeping tabs on other teams. In fact several Coaches have their college sports directors or sports PR guys place vote for them.

There should be no polls till September is done with.
Lets see some work before a team is actually given a ranking.

no, first of all they only scout the teams they're playing so they are not that informed. Second, I've heard stories about letting assistants fill in the ballot. Third and most importantly, league bias. There's a lot of money on the table, and some coaches will elevate a team in their league and knock their chief competition down a couple of notches. I believe this happened within the last few years.

Most coaches don't vote. They have a staffer that does it. Anyone who thinks otherwise is - basically - a damn fool.
