i wish I could embed this but I dont know how unless its a you tube video.

This is no bullshit people, This is the majority of the streets in the neighborhoods of Detroit. Not the downtown area. It's actually rebuilding and business and property values are going way up. But the neighborhoods are just what this woman says. Actually worse. The wildlife has taken over, the weeds and lawns are higher than a lot of the houses until winter, when it all dies. You just wouldnt believe it till you see it with your own eyes. Some streets have a single house on the whole street. The rest are either burned down or already been bulldozed. Or like this womans street, just vacant with all the copper and metal stripped to the bone. The police force is so thin the criminals just literally have a field day everyday.

there's gotta be some opportunity in there somewhere. What about buying a piece of land in a strategic area and holding on for 20 yrs.... growth has to come back someday... doesn't it? and when it does, property owners should make out.. I am talking out my ass here, cause I don't know shit about what Detroit will be like in 20 yrs... but, damn.. you gotta think it's gonna see some development someday.. I think?

If you can figure out where they will relocate the NFL/Baseball teams your investment will go through the roof. Petco Park is a perfect example of this, there were houses in that slum area for really cheap money and now it's a just an extension of downtown with luxury high rises and restaurants.

Bit to your point, if you had a chunk of money you just wanted to purely make a twenty-year speculative investment it wouldn't be a bad idea because sooner or later it will get tidied up.

Besides, the baseball and football stadiums are brand new. The basketball team plays in the suburbs. The NHL arena IS the oldest in the league. But the owner, Mike Iilitch owns a shit load of property around these 2 stadiums and buys more all the time. If theres money to be made on that, It's him that going to cash in, nobody else. And he's not telling where its going.

That Hellhole will never comeback. People might have tolerated living there in exchange for overpaid UAW jobs, but with car production no longer a big factor.....nobody is going to want to live in a cold weather place like that.

Guy pays $4500 in tax per year for 1100 square feet. WTF is that?

Is that normal for a city in the States?

I pay $3200 for my house of 2000 square feet. Worth about $400,000.

I watched that entire video. And can tell you I recognize quite a few of those neighborhoods. That videos no bullshit. And if I have a camcorder I could show you worse. But I could also show you a lot better.

Detroit, at one time, had SO much character. So many cool places to go and do. And there still is. Their just harder and harder to find. But every now and then someone will take me to a bar or a place of interest that brings you right back to the old days. It's really scary as hell and I rarely go there after dark. Their shooting kids and the elderly these days. They just have no value for a human life anymore if your in their path.

I worked there for over 20 years. I have a route in the suburbs now. My old friends still there tell me its just unable to put into words how things have even got worse. They break into homes and business and the cops dont show till the next day, if ever. My good friend is a beer salesman there. Not delivery. He parked his car on the street, attempted to walk to the store, a van pulled up, the back door slid open and 3 shotguns were in his face telling him to give up the money. He ran and luckily was never shot. Went into the store shaking like a leaf, called the cops and they showed up 3 HOURS later.

I still do some business down there but am sure glad to be out. But I know that city like the back of my hand. It's litterely-sp like going into shark infested waters.

It is Shark week right?!

You couldnt even afford car insurance. Prolly 20% have insurance. Less with health insurance. And that 20 might be generous.
There is not one singe chain department store or grocery store in the city limits. They could never survive the theft.

Detroit is a city that has been run unfettered and unhindered by blacks and democrats for decades, and that is the result, quite frankly while it's certainly sad, it's not surprising, and guess what...the corrupt mayor bing will be re-elected. Few decent citizens, equals no money, no cops, no hope...but there are thousands of liquor stores still in the city.
