Friday: 6-1, + 10.5 units.

Giants. ML. (-105)4 units. Giants are a streaky bunch, and even though Eric Stults has been good for 2 starts, he was released earlier this year by Chicago, and has a history of not sustaining his successes. As I said in yesterday's post, the Giants might play better with Melky C gone. Look how the Reds played without Votto- even better. Besides look at the -105 number- it looks like a deal to me. The Padres are also slipping backward to being the Padres of little hitting. Zito has been hot and cold, but I think we'll see him fare better against the slumping Pads. The Padres only hit .236 vs. lefties and have quite a few lefty bats.

Oakland-1. 3 units. Colon has owned this Indians' lineup, which by the way, is truly awful 6-9. Kipnis their leadoff is in a weeks long slump, and Choo has cooled considerably. The A's, like the Giants are also streaky, and sometimes at home, are almost unbeatable. Remember their 4 game sweep of the Yankees? Kluber has been very roughed up 2 out of 3 outings since being called up. Hitters have a .355 BAA. Kluber has a knack for the long ball(in the minors the last 2 years), and the A's can deliver.

Thanks to all. Hope if you're tailing I can keep it up today.

Detroit:TT. Over 5. Zach Britton in Comerica with that short left field power alley- could be a tough day. Britton has 5 starts, 4 of them poor. 21 IPs, 16 walks, 5 HRs, BAA of .313….. 8.10 ERA.Worse yet is that the good start is factored in there. In that he had 6 IPs, 0 ERs, only 2 walks, 0 HRs. Tigers have cooled a little, but still can put out a very good right-handed leaning lineup. The last team he pitched to: Seattle,5 IPs and 7 runs. Now we all know the Mariners rarely do that.

Detroit/ Balt. Over 5. First 5 IPs. One unit, as is above play(post #5)- one unit. Orioles hit well early in games, and are hitting much better in recent weeks. Did a nice job with Verlander for the most part and Bucholz the night before. Porcello is also known for giving up some early runs. Yet both BPs have been solid of late.

NY Mets. ML. First 5 IPs. Nats have been a moneymaker for me this year (and everyone who bet on them frequently), but seem to win a lot of games late innings. Partly because their BP is solid. Niese has become a tough lefty for most of his starts. When he's on he is really good. Niese has also been a stopper for some good hitting teams, reducing walks and HRs in last 4-5 starts. Edwin Jackson seems to be going the opposite direction. 5 HRs in last 16 IPs, losing command, and only 2 out of last 8 being solid starts. Mets seem to be hitting better in last few games, possibly out of their funk.

Colorado. ML. One unit. The Rockies are hitting .335, with a .371 OBP the past week. Many hot hitters in the lineup. If they hit a few more extra bases, they are going to really score some runs. Eovaldi has a good future but seems to be faltering as most rookie pitchers do later in their rookie season. 10 walks in last 12 IPs, and ERA steadily climbing. There's also the Coors effect on pitchers that rarely ever pitch there. Chatwood, surprisingly, has had 2 good starts since being called up. Only 2 walks, which is good news for him- he has always struggled with control. Marlins have that middle of the order punch, but the top and bottom is crap.

Mets game above- one unit.

Phillies. ML. One unit. Going to ride with Hamels, who has been very "on" of late. Fiers, who has been excellent for the Brewers this year, got shelled last time out. With young pitchers, often one bad start will follow another. Also, as good as the Brewers have been at home lately, you can't overlook losing 5 out of 6 to the lowly Astros and Rockies lately. Their BP is truly the worst in the mlb if you ask me. Phils have enough punch left in their lineup to get some runs here.

Oakland TT. Over 4 . One unit. Reports on Kluber's starts say he has a pretty straight fastball, but is up in the zone. Off speed pitches haven't been effective because he gets behind in the count or not deep in the count because he gets early.

Colon is the master of poor contact pitching, no Ks, but also no runs given up. Running 4 seam and seam fastballs in, out, up, down.
