I like it. Gotta feeling USC will be winning me lots of money this year. LOVE Oklahoma as an underdog for Title odds.

Every year somebody from the middle of the pack climbs to the top 5. Who will it be this year, Texas?

Well, I don't know if you noticed in the Coach's Poll, but USC has more first place votes than LSU. In fact Alabama has more first place votes as well. Yet, LSU is first place. In the end, more people thought USC and Alabama deserved #1 over LSU. That means some other people were voting USC and Alabama further down to get LSU that #1. To me that seems less respectable than one guy going rouge and voting Michigan.

Why, is it that out of line that some people have USC and Alabama somewhere between 3-5?

Because it is so blatantly out of whack from the AP poll, which has nothing to gain. The same coaches fighting for better positions are creating some oddities, when they in fact have everything to lose.

The reason LSU was #1 in the coaches and #3 in the AP is because the coaches poll came out before Tyrann Mathieu was suspended for the entire season.
If he would not have been suspended LSU would probably be #1 in both polls.

It stands to reason LSU losing the best player in the nation could have such an effect on the rankings.
I bet you if the coaches poll would come out today LSU would not be #1 in that poll either.

Not very hard to figure out.

My beef isn't who #1 is, it's the oddity that the team receiving the most first place votes are ranked 2nd and 3rd.

LMAO!!!! Are you kidding me!? TM was the best player in college football!? Wow...dude take your homer glasses off!!!!

He wasn't even the best cornerback on LSU's team last year, but now he is the greatest/best player in all of CFB? Interesting to say the least!

I don't take anything away for his nack of play making ability. He is also probably the best Punt returner in CFB. But the dude is a liability as a true/pure cover corner...

Well its a good thing he is not a true/pure cover corner then isnt it?
Just because he was not the best pure corner on LSU last season does not mean he is not the best player in the country.
He affected more games then any other player.

He is the only player who went to New York for the heisman award last season that would have been playing this season.

He was voted by the college writers of America as the 4th best player in the country last season.
The other 3 players ahead of him are in the NFL right now.

So if you are going to call me an idiot, you just called thousands of other people idiots all at the same time.

Congrats.

And thats besides the point.

My point was it does not matter if he is the best player or the 20th best player.

The point is the coaches poll was before he got kicked off, and the AP poll was after he got kicked off.

Clearly this had a huge effect on the voting, and that was my point sir.
And its indisputable.

Just FYI, I have no problem with that...

Yea arent you the guy who called Alabama an NFL QB factory when BAMA has not had a decent NFL QB since Kenny Stabler?

As a former college athlete and current football coach I have seen my fair share of football.

I do not take anything away from TM as an athlete. He is an extremely gifted young man but his talents are limited by his size, character, etc. He has a long uphill battle ahead of him and I wish him nothing but the best.

With that being said, you know as well as I do that the media can hype a player and cause their stock to rise much higher than it probably should. TM was shot to the moon due to his "Honey Badger" persona that many fell in love with. He is a fun player to watch but he is a liability defensively do to him trying to be me a playmaker when he should be doing his job (covering his man 'man-to-man' or covering the flats, etc.) He is a good player but IMO and many others who don't get caught up in hype and actually grade players on their on the field production and assignment, then TM is definitely not in the discussion for best player in CFB.

I never said anything about Alabama being a "NFL QB factory", I simply said that if you were a top quarterback recruit in 2012, that Alabama would be one of your top choices to sign your LOI with, which is what the thread was about in the first place. We were arguing 2 completely different things in that particular thread...

Lets just face it, you are a die hard LSU fan and anything that is said positive about Alabama you will oppose until death.

wrongo.
I am not a die hard LSU fan. I am a UL LAF alum.
And in that thread I told you Nick Saban was the best coach in the country and Les Miles was a plug.

I also told you to give me any evidence of Saban being a great coach for QB's to get into the NFL.

He has almost 20 years experience in coaching in college football and has yet to coach a single QB in college who has had any impact in the NFL. The best NFL QB he ever coached was Tony Banks way back when he was at Mich St 15 years ago.
He has had zero LSU QB's play a down of regular season ball in the NFL, and has had zero Alabama players play a down of regular season ball in the NFL as a QB.

But after all that somehow you believe Saban is this great coach for future NFL QB's despite presenting these facts to you.

The second someone has a career better then Tony Banks that Saban coached, that player will become the best NFL QB he ever coached.
