I read it at the other place. The guy requested bank wire from heritage but the feds had discovered the processor to be a shell company that does gambling payouts. Now the guy is having to hire a lawyer and fight this thing.

I think its over for anyone in the US.

My questioin for anyone that knows about gambling laws, if the feds really wanted to could they make up some BS to send gamblers to prison?

it would be tough to get a jury to convict you IMO.. I would take my chances in court..

This is probably entirely wrong but is just placing a bet even illegal? I know "bookmaking" is illegal but not sure just placing a bets illegal.

calm down chicken little ;)

dont take wires.. dont do them for amounts like 7k.

simply put the bettor took some un-needed risks and this time they cost him.

the sportsbook 100% should repay the amount though.. good press and will have customers forget this worry kingofnicotine is having

All depends on how your state law reads SEC... a google search State name, gambling laws will pop it right up

VA state law read as the following....

llegal gambling" means the making, placing or receipt of any bet or wager in the Commonwealth of money or other thing of value, made in exchange for a chance to win a prize, stake or other consideration or thing of value, dependent upon the result of any game, contest or any other event the outcome of which is uncertain or a matter of chance, whether such game, contest or event occurs or is to occur inside or outside the limits of the Commonwealth.

for those wondering, (c) For Class 3 misdemeanors, a fine of not more than $500..... Penatlies go on to say that betting on horses not through VA licensed place is a Class 1 Misdemanor, much more serious.......
So basically because in VA we have "Off Track" Horse Betting Venues... its actually MORE serious to bet on a horse ??? WTF....

This is nothing to sneeze at in my opinion. It is becoming impossible to have hassle free transactions. You can only use MG and WU so many times. Then if you use a fake name and the clerk messes the spelling up, you could be out of your deposit.

It's to much a pain in the ass any more

But cant they make up charges like sending money to a known terrorist? I read a guys account of getting banned by MG for sending to a name that was a known terrorist.

If you are uncomfortable, just don't play. Myself, I think they can do what they want to do. I wouldn't want to be the one they set an example of. Once that happens, offshore is done, period

Well looks like heritage is gonna pay the guy the money. The guy's lawyer says the case is weak but they will not contest it. At least he will get his money.

The end was when Matchbook left the USA behind, that was the final straw....

I wonder if there's anything the fed can do to Nevada residence that have offshore accounts? I think I should be allowed to have an account with pinnacle, if I live in Nevada where it's legal.
