Two sides of the fence on this one.

A) The supplier is directly responsible for causing the overdose.

B) The druggy is an addict, a grown adult and makes their own choices and a supplier has nothing to do with the overdose.

What do you guys think? I go back and forth on this one.

Define supplier. Are you talking about the drug company that fills the RX or the Doctor that prescribes ?

Most druggers are going to get their shit from somewhere no matter what; and if they don't OD today they'll do so tomorrow or next week.

Annually, over 100,000 Americans suffer a fatal response due to ingestion of one or more drugs. It is highly unuusal for the anyone in the supply chain to be held criminally culpable for these deaths

O/D kind of implies illegal drugs like say Heroin.

Now if a person wanted to O/D intentionally ( suicide) it wouldn't be that difficult to accumulate a sufficient supply of sleeping pills, painkillers etc., to do the job.

Just save them up for 6 months or whatever until you have the bye-bye dose and throw a BBQ in your watercloset just for insurance as down 50 sleeping pills with a bottle of booze.

This is not the doctor's fault. Michael Jackon's Doc is different.

Illegal drugs ... Yes, they were a direct part of a death. Legal RX from an MD ... Usually no ... DR cannot control what an idiot does once they get the RX. The exception is the DR writing way to many scripts for narcotics.

It's all rather silly ! Pot is harmless enough. It's legal in many states with a Doctor's approval. That approval process is a joke.

So how about the pot doctors ? Where did they graduate from medical school ?

As a non-user, I also think pot is harmless enough but it is a gateway drug. That's not a problem for a 30-40 something hard working guy who relaxes after a hard day with a joint, but the same pot sellers can also hook up spotty 17-year-old college dropouts with crack.

I know I'm generalizing a bit but ultimately pot sellers are drug dealers and nothing good happens when drug dealers are involved, whether they're doing it in back alleys or doing it from their doctors office.

funny, I smoked pot as a youth and heavily in my 20's. but by 30 or so I outgrew it. I could smoke a joint at 30 and not touch it again for 5 more years until somebody lit one up, it's been a few years again now ( at 48). When I was 25, I was low on weed if I didn't have at least half a lb....but I dealt some.

I didn't smoke cigs until I was about 22-23, so pot was my gateway to tobacco, haven't had a cig since 1/1/11.

If pot is a gateway drug, it's only because it illegal. I'd place a wager that tobacco and booze have opened the doors to harder drugs than marijuana. To answer the Q, no they shoudn't. We don't go after Walmart just because they sold me a liter of tequila and I got smashed and later fucked up.

Neither. An illegal drug supplier. You buy heroin and then O/D. Should that guy that sold be charged in your death?

Of course!! That way we can create more jails, more police, and more regulations... Let's try and triple the prison population in the next ten years.

You know it's not possible to die from ODing on pot, right?

Got it. I wasn't sure which form of drugs you were refering to. Many people also die from legal drugs being over prescribed also. Elvis and Michael Jackson are 2 of the better known celebs but there are many more.
