hot damn I suck!

Took forever to "get the coals hot" at first, I thought you have to have it blaz'n.

I burnt the first piece of Salmon, and Chicken. Working on the other two, hoping not to burn them. Propane is much easier, and easier on the neighbors. looks like a freaking 3 alarm fire in my back yard:ohno:

No....

For a normal size grill that is loaded with say .....6 chops, 4 links, and a steak for the dogs. You only need about 24-30 coals.

Dont ever put your meat directly above the coals.

I only use Charcoal grills....Mesquite Charcoal is my fav....get the coals started...20-25 min later spread the bricks....then add some Pecan wood chip's that I soak in water. If u do it that way ...the chips seem to control the temp and add a great pecan taste.

Bought both a nice charcoal grill and a gas grill 3 years ago and have only fired up the charcoal grill 3 times. Unless you are throwing a big BBQ or something it makes no sense to waste the coals to just make a burger or two.

Anyone here remember the Qwik Cook Grill? Used newspaper for the heat source. Actually owned one and remember cooking burgers and hot dogs on it.

I see what your saying, but a good little thing about the Webber kettle grill (best charcoal grill made IMO) is when you finish cooking, close the lid and vents. The coals will die out, leave em in there and the next time you want to grill just use 1/2 or so of the new coals and the old ones will relight. Doesnt take near as much time to get hot and saves your charcoal.
