IMO this shows the ufc is closer to WWF than a real sport. What a complete joke that a guy 3-2 in his last 5 fights at 185 was even considered as a possible opponent for the 205 champ. way to make your fighters earn their shot. with dana its about money not a sport.
Well, it definitely is part sport and part entertainment. I disagree being like WWE though. If it were, then Jones would have agreed to the bout as long as it was a "work" with Chael. Jones kniew it would be a real MMA fight he could lose. Chael is a top level fighter. Losing to Anderson Silva is something most people who fight him experience. In the fight business you need top level, headline main event fighters in order to sell the PPV's. Henderson got hurt, Machida and Shogun were not going to take it on short notice and Chael told Dana he would do it in an attempt to save a card. Jones turned it down.
Now Jones will fight Vitor Belfort on Sept 22.
