Thursday: 1-1, -.45 units. Verlander does his job, but the Tigers can't get to Happ. Have lost a lot of games in situations where a top of the line pitcher gets out pitched by a much lesser pitcher. Maybe these lesser pitchers bring their A game knowing it's the only way their team has a chance. Or maybe the Tigers just are in one of their jags again where they just can't pull away.

And some of those hit/ runs were against teams not exactly at the top of the hitting food chain or slumping. He might be suffering from some fatigue or a tired arm, and Jamie Garcia might step into the rotation if it continues. Latos on the other hand has out pitched even Johhny Cueto for the past 2 months. He rarely gives up a long ball and walks very few.
The Cards are coming off a sweep of the lowly Astros. It seems as if the last few teams that plastered the Astros played poorly in their next series. Possibly because the Stros have no pitching, poor fielding and a AAA lineup. Maybe teams get into lazy habits because they can win anyways. Whatever it is, the Cards just saw some very crappy pitching, and will now see a legitimate quality starter, and a great BP. Cards BP not nearly as good. Motte is looking less like a closer lately.
The Cards only have 2 HRs in the past week, while the Reds have 15, with about a .300 avg. If they can keep Miguel Cairo out of the lineup, they might continue to hit.
Anyways, I like the Reds playing loose at home in the first game of their series against their division rivals who are a distant 2nd.
