Something just doesn't add up in my head when I watch this movie and timeline it with Remember The Titans & The Express.

We Are Marshall is based on the 1971 football season and so is Remember The Titans. But in We Are Marshall (West Virginia) they show no signs of segregation or racism they actually make Marshall look like a nice quaint little Mayberry type of town where everybody got along ans knew each other. However in Remember The Titans (Virginia) it shows the state is still dealing with segregation and heavy racism. Then when you factor in the movie The Express it covers Ernie Davis all the way through the year 1963 and they make West Virginia look like a very racist and segregated place during that time where the thought of a black football player even existed yet alone enrolled and sharing the same field with white athletes was a sin.

So my question is did West Virginia extinguish segregation and most forms of public racism in the span of 8 years or is the only thing really true about We Are Marshall is the plane crash that happened in 1970?

Valid questions I guess. Why take these movies so seriously though. Of course they will play up or down racial elements as they fit into the story they're portraying.

From what I read Remember the Titans was very loosely based on facts. Very exaggerated story but still a good movie I thought. Haven't seen We are Marshall yet.

I am a movie buff. I tend to notice things like this. The most recent inconsistencies in movies I have noticed was in two movies last year. The first one Super 8. The kids say they alien debris looked like a rubix cube. Since the movie took place in 1979 and the Rubix Cube didn't hit the U.S. until 1980 how would they know that. Besides prior to 1980 the rubix cube was called the magic cube in Europe.

Also in the movie Colombiana at the beginning of the movie the little girl is reading a Xena comic book and it is supposed to be 1992. The character Xena and its TV show didn't air until 1995. Xena comic books didn't get released until 1996.

you notice things like because you always want to be the victim and to make excuses for your fellow people. Stop making excuses for scumbags.

A little too much time on your hands with this one. Is it really that big of a deal? I mean, its premised on aliens coming to earth and you are more concerned with their knowledge of a rubix cube LOL. Little things like this get to me sometimes, but sometimes you got to let stuff slide

Here is another one for you. How come in Back To The Future 3 Marty's great, great grandmother looks exactly like his mom and his great, great grandfather looks exactly like Marty. Which means he would technically be a product of incest.

HAHAHAHAHA I would be your people are not worth the cost of bullets. Whats wrong you think I should be scared of the violent blacks where I live. HAHAHA I carry 2 guns when I go to Detroit. What a shame the violent black culture has made normal people like me have to carry a gun just to try an make a living.

Also If I wanted to kill black people I would just go to the chack cashing store 2 times a month and shoot them while they wait for the store to open.

BTW how many black people got kille from blacks the last weekend. Come on count them up use the toes if you need to.

Now that is classic. If you are normal that what chance do our children have.

You are a fuckin joke. You remind me of that dude from the movie Falling Down that owned the Army Surplus store. Just one misguided little racist, sexist, loser fuck who owns a registered gun and thinks he is Billy Bad Ass. Now go kill your Trayvon Martin so your next phase in life can be to get your ass pounded regularly by some black inmates and tossing some Puerto Rican's salad with either jelly or syrup.

Maybe you should start the search there for your daddy.

Daddy why did you just leave me and not come around when mommy spit me out?

Jr a blackman just needs to spread its seed and not worry about what happens after I destroy mommies snatch."

Any movie you can name has errors in it, many are sequence errors that few would notice.

Sometimes a movie set in say 1800 will use a device that didn't exist until decades later.

A Tv show like Bonanza set somewhere around/ after the Civil war might show a jet in the sky or a contrail.

EVERY movie or TV episode has errors in it.

Continuity: After the train wreck, one scene shows the car they came in has a steel or wooden beam/bar stuck into the rear wheel area and debris is piled close to the car - yet when they get in it to escape, the car is clear and they easily pull out of the lot.

Edit

Factual error: At the gas station scene when the Sheriff enters the building, the attendant is listing to a Walkman. The Sony Walkman wasn't released in the the U.S. till the following year (1980) and he wasn't reading Japanese instructions.

Edit Time

Factual error: In the scene where there is a Military convoy rolling through town on screen from right to left there is an M35A3 truck in the convoy and those vehicles were not built until 1993.

Edit

Continuity: In the camera store, Joel stands in front and to the left of a Kodak film advertising display. After briefly cutting away, the camera returns to find the display now rotating.

Edit Submitted by Mark E

Factual error: When the kids go back to the town to save Alice, they pass by a 7-11. The sign on the store is obviously the new 7-11 logo and sign layout, not from the late '70's.

Edit Submitted by jkl47

Continuity: In the bedroom scene, when the camera looks out of the window at Alice, she's wearing a plain blue t-shirt with a denim jacket. After she's climbed in, it has writing on.

Edit

Continuity: When the boys are running through war-zone Lillian, they are shown running quite spaced. A shot later they're running in a clump.

Edit

Factual error: In the scene with the Missing Dogs Board is shown, it includes a missing Puggle. The Puggle cross-breed was not created until the 1980s.

Edit

Plot hole: The alien digs an extensive underground network of tunnels beneath the cemetery without leaving huge piles of dirt above ground.

Edit Submitted by Verbal

Continuity: When the kids break into the school and discover the footage of Dr. Woodward and the other scientists, they break a window on the classroom door. The glass is almost completely removed from the frame but once the military arrive and take the kids away, there is suddenly more glass in the frame.

Edit Submitted by THGhost Time

Continuity: When the evacuation siren goes off, the small spool of film is yanked off the feed spindle of the projector without first being rewound. All the footage they just viewed would have still been on the take-up spool at the other end of the projector.

Edit

Continuity: When Joe and Alice are talking in his room, there is a book in the background on a desk or such that changes position between shots. Sometimes it is upright and sometimes at an angle.

Edit Submitted by greydane

Continuity: In the scene when Alice tells Joe not to let Charles blow up his model train, her hair moves from hanging downwards to tucked behind her ear between shots.

Edit Submitted by THGhost

Visible crew/equipment: When the girls are having breakfast and ask for English muffins, the handle of the boom mike is reflected on the glass door.

Edit Submitted by Sacha

Continuity: After the train wreck, all the kids are looking for Alice. When she shows up behind Joe, his fringe swaps between brushed and messy, back and forth.

Edit Submitted by Sacha

Factual error: When Joe is in his room painting one of his monster models you can see in the background a model of the Invisible Man. This model was not released until 2009 by Moebius models. Although the model was created in the classic Aurora models style, this model was not available during 1979.

Edit Submitted by dudleythunder

Other: The Super 8 cameras used are both sound models, one Eumig and one Kodak, but when the film and film boxes are shown, they are the normal Super 8 silent cartridges, which are square. Sound movie cartridges are rectangular to accommodate the sound recording mechanism in a Super 8 Sound camera.

Edit

Factual error: Although taking place in Ohio somewhere between Brookville and Greenville, this area is extremely flat with no hills unlike the town and train wreck area which is quite hilly. This is due to the fact it was actually filmed in West Virginia.

Edit

Continuity: Jack stares at an army truck and turns his head to the left. From the opposite angle, his head is still and he is turning it again.

Edit Submitted by Sacha

Factual error: In an early shot of the movie, a sign shows as Town of Lillian, Ohio. In a later shot, it shows another as City of Lillian, Ohio. Also as a side note, Ohio does not recognize any incorporated area as a town, only village or city.

Every movie has these kind of errors. I used to read about them before watching a movie and look for them. Tv shows tend to have stuff like a glass that was only 25% full, suddenly is 90% full and stuff like that, or earrings change in a flash, something is different in the background, etc.
