So as some of you know I got married last year.
As part of my jaded past I have some tax leins that I'm still in the process of working out. I aquired these liens back in 2007 and 2008

In the meantime my wife and I were disucssing whether or not she can legally change her last name to mine.

What issues are we possibly dealing with once she changes here last name to mine? Can they levy her bank accounts? Go after her assets?

I'm in Cali so it's a community property state.

Any legal advice fellas? Glad to see you back!

I cannot speak to the issues of living in a community property state without doing research. I'm not sure if that would change my answer, but I have a strong lean in won't.

They will not go after her wagers or her assets. If you have joint accounts, they can seize those assets and then you'll have to fight to get her share back. If you file a joint tax return and have a refund coming, they will seize that although you can avoid having them take her share of the refund by filing and injured spouse form with your tax return.

Contact me, I'll talk to you about how to resolve your issues. It's much better to tackle them head on and know what you're dealing with. Resolution may be much easier than you think.

Not to mention that if you play your cards right, he can likely help fulfill your longtime dream of attending a Big East football game live

I cant speak for your state but in Louisina debts and even property aquired by either party before the marriage DO NOT become the responsibility of the new spouse....
