It's actually the opposite since they started having the winner open the season on Thursdays they have done very well. Can't remember the exact number.

I went back to 06' (as far as Covers tracks) All super bowl losers have not covered in Week 1.

All superbowl winners since then have covered except Pittsburgh in 09' who beat Tennessee but did not cover.
