Friday: 4-3, + 1 unit

Baltimore. ML. One unit. The Yankees seem to be in a prolonged slump, and could continue until the end of the season. They have age issues, injury issues, fielding issues and starting pitching issues. Right now the Orioles look like the better team. Chen can match up well with Phelps as can the Baltimore BP. The Orioles have played the Yankees tough all year, and it's possible the Yankees are regressing to their true level as the season goes on.

Chicago Cubs. ML. First 5 IPs. One unit. Lincecum has struggled on the road all year. The Cubs are hitting better pitchers than him lately. Germano has average stuff, but knows how to pitch and change speeds. The Giants are streaky and could be in one of their poor hitting ones right now. They didn't exactly kill it in Houston vs. their dreadful pitching, or yesterday vs. Volstad. Cubs at home playing for some pride.

Milwaukee. ML. One unit. First 5. Burnett is really swooning and the Brewers are torrid hitters right now. They also are at home and playing for pride only. Burnett has even pitched poorly at home and that's not like him. Estrada is a pretty good 5 inning pitcher and the Pirates are inconsistent in the past month scoring runs. The top and bottom of their lineup has been less productive. Definitely take the 5 IPs play as the Pirates have a huge BP advantage.

Texas/ Clev. Over 5 First 5 IPs. 2 units. Jeanmar Gomez was getting lit up in the minors before this call up. Now he faces the top hitting team in the majors, who are hitting very well in the last 2 weeks. Feldman is likely to give up a couple of early runs too, maybe more. This is a chance for the Indians to face a mediocre pitcher.

Texas -1. 2 units. I think the Rangers haven't seen a starter this bad in a while. They have the BP to hold an early lead. Not sure who the Indians long reliever is but they'll likely need him. Haven't seen the TT yet but might be interested in that too.

Oakland. -1. 2 units. Riding the hottest team here. At home vs. a very dispirited, still with Bobby V. team. A J Griffin has ALL quality starts this year, some vs. very good hitting teams. He pounds the strike zone low and mixes 4 pitches well while changing speeds. Some observers think he looks veteran-like. Doubront has had command issues all year and more so lately. He has become a 5 inning pitcher because he toils so much in some early innings. With runners on, he'll then serve up a gopher ball. A's also have a huge BP advantage and after last night's massacre the Red Sox BP is somewhat depleted.
