I agree it was not the players' faults.

However, I wouldn't hold your breath wishing for Penn State to beat Georgia in football. I simply don't see that happening for years to come!

You're all emotion and no logic. Players and students had nothing to do with the Sandusky crimes. If your uncle, unbeknownst to you, molests children should you and your kids be vilified just because you are related to him? Innocent people totally removed from the situation do not deserve any scorn.

I think they might win more than two games. Ohio is not the worst team on their schedule, and that includes conference play.

Paterno put winning and his ego in front of everything. Including letting a child rapist roam the campus. As soon as he said "I should have done more" that was the end of him. I never bought into that "happy valley" bullshit. That whole place including players, administration, etc.. is brain-washed with that happy valley shit....

JFE ---you are right on the money!

For all intents and purposes, Paterno did own the school. Can't blame the players though; I blame Paterno and his so-called bosses. I'm stunned at their second half yesterday; I was on them large and they looked good for the first half then fell apart.

No 1 i wouldnt let my kids be anywhere by an adult in a shower let alone without me being there. No 2 if you are stupid enough to let a young kid alone like that then leave him sleep over micheal jackson's house. Not denying that he didnt know.Just stating he told the next person in the chain of command. Why didnt the person that caught them do anything when they were right there? It happens everywhere and its not even reported.Blaming just paterno is wrong.there were more than 1 person who knew so why only blame paterno.

Paterno knew this guy for years and years. Do you really think he didn't know about his proclivities? There is probably a lot to be told yet and it will never come out.

Sandusky's name was mentioned in this thread one time. Sad, no one wants to blame him. A lot of people want to blame someone else except the one person that committed the horrific crimes. JFE, you are wishing for the kids on the football team to suffer because some kids suffered at sanduskys hands? Great logic.

I love talk radio. I listen to some of the national shows-Mike & Mike, The Herd etc. Very interesting to hear PSt callers defend and deny. Shocking actually. I see some of that above in some of the posts. Seems like a time for them to be humble not whatever it is that they are. I can't even think of a word to describe the callers and forum writers. Kinda sad actually.

Yes, I truly believe Paterno knew very little about Sandusky's activities. The evidence against Paterno is incredibly circumstantial. Just a witch hunt. He was an old ass man who had no clue what the truth was and passed it on to his superiors. Just because you want him to get his Sherlock Holmes on doesn't mean he has to.

Knowing that it happened even once is enough to be inexcusable. If his first knowledge was when McQueary told him in 2001 then Sandusky should have been banished at that moment. Enough said.

I think JoePa offed himself so nothing else would come out.

I also think Stephen A Smith hit the nail on the head this morning on First Take regarding JoePa's philanthropic activity - likely to make himself feel better for covering up this abomination for so long and letting this monster continued access to the young people he would victimize.

I still can't believe a lot of otherwise rational people are venerating him. I guess we live in a world where people embrace ignorance and cling to false idols - even after they have been seen for what they are in the light of day.

    Sad.

A very slow process for sure, but enough time has passed for brave people to speak up and uncover the truth

This entire case appears to be an all or nothing proposition. Because the only non-victim eyewitness in the entire case against Sandusky (a then-graduate assistant coach named Mike McQueary) apparently claimed in the grand jury to have heard/seen a rape, there are only two reasonable scenarios: either there was indeed a cover-up at Penn State, or McQueary’s story is not true.

Due to the extreme lack of ambiguity in that heinous accusation, it is seems impossible to believe that there was a miscommunication among so many people of such stature and accomplishment.

While I am not an expert on the case against Sandusky, I am informed that no actual victim testified to the McQueary allegation. Given the extreme amount of publicity that the story generated and the other unique circumstances of the case, it seems highly suspicious that no actual victim was found or ever came forward.

I don’t know what really happened that night in 2001 (McQueary originally testified to the wrong date, month and year of the episode). I do however believe that the entire story as it was portrayed in the media doesn’t make sense. Even the jury, which convicted Sandusky on 45 counts, found him not guilty on the McQueary rape allegation.
It cannot be overstated how much, if the McQueary story is not true, this dramatically destroys the case against Paterno and Penn State. It also is potentially devastating to the case against Sandusky.
While the media and public have accepted that the sheer number of accusers against Sandusky is certain proof that he is guilty, if the McQueary episode didn’t happen the way we were originally told, then the original foundation for why all those accusers were immediately believed could completely erode.
Without McQueary, there appears to be no direct non-victim witness against Sandusky. That is particularly important in a case with zero physical evidence and not even one shred of pornography.
Without McQueary, all that really remains would be inconsistent testimony from men who ended up receiving (or are still pursuing) millions of dollars from Penn State.

Judging from the dramatic increase in grand jury activity following McQueary’s testimony, it is almost certain that investigators used McQueary’s story to convince new accusers to come forward. The prospect of huge financial settlements from Penn State looming from very early on in the case could have easily incentivized testimony in a way few, if any, cases like this have ever seen.

"Fault" has nothing to do with the penalties. If you don't believe me, believe all the lawyers and judges that hold the school liable.
When you think of the issue at the bottom of it all, how can anyone NOT hold PSU liable for what it's staff does around young boys.
As long as the football team represents the school, it will be affected by whatever PSU is responsible for and liable. If you are a student
there and don't like it, just leave and attend college elsewhere. USC got penalized HUGE for a couple of limo rides and some unacceptable
family benefits well over 100 miles from campus. But if you are PSU and get busted for one of your staff buttfucking little boys, nothing to
be too concerned about. How can anyone say they have concern for the victims when football trumps common decency and the welfare of
    a child?

Is there any reason at all for bumping this post? Can we get back to football? Is anyone in here an attorney, because if not, all you have to offer is opinion which may, or may not be accepted. Back to football people. You are going to have to learn to move on. There is no way to change the past.

We will never move on . Don't like it, don't read it . It's important to bring back up all the silly comments and opinions based in no facts.
    Joe Paterno deserved better .
