When Bryce Harper made his major-league debut, he was 19 years, 195 days old. He was the youngest big-league position player in 14 years, and the youngest player (including pitchers) since 2005.

Now he has company.

Jurickson Profar debuted for the Rangers Sunday.

His age: 19 years, 195 days.

That's right, the same age Harper was when he debuted to the day.Harper doubled in his debut. Profar did even better.
He homered in his first big-league at-bat. On his very first swing.

Profar is the youngest player to hit a major-league home run since Adrian Beltre did it for the Dodgers in 1998. Beltre, who started at third base for the Rangers on Sunday, is also the last position player younger than Harper or Profar to play in a major-league game. Beltre, who was 19 years, 78 days old when he played his first game, hit his first home run six days later.

He was an untouchable in the Rangers system. I was wondering if they were calling him up.

Haha...brutal.

Exciting player, wish he would've had some oppotunities to start all year. Maybe next year they can plug him in for like 20 starts. Don't want to...ya know...risk injuring the poor young man.

It's all about service time these days. Teams are balancing production and days on the roster so they can prolong arbitration/free agency.
