My old girl has to go.

She is older and has a tumor and because of her advanced age, the vet has recommended we put her down. I've already paid to have one tumor removed about 18 months ago and the vet is unsure she'll survive a 2nd surgery let alone give us some assurance the tumors won't return or how long she'll have if she survives surgery.

I didn't think this would be that hard. Boy was I mistaken. Tough decision and going to be a tough day.

We're having her cremated as well. The vet will make a mold from her paw for us.

Very hard to do, we had to put our 15yo Samoyed down three years ago and taking him to the vet was one of the hardest things I've ever done.

Sorry to hear man - it´s a member of the family, at least that´s how I feel. Do take some comfort in the fact that you gave her a better life than most owners would.

I have to do it Thursday and they told me I can at least hold her during the procedure. I know it sounds corny but I really do owe her that much I think.

my dog, roscoe (my baby), is around 10 years old...he is suffering from cushing's and excess weight and is always having trouble breathing. it breaks my heart. i couldn't ask for a more loyal dog. any chance i get i'll pick him up and put him on the couch, etc. i'd have a fucking elevator put in for him if it helped. i hope he outlives me, seriously.

I put down my Blueheeler 3 years ago due to cancer. I first paid to have it removed, but it wasn't getting better. He was 12 so i'm glad we had that long. It was one of the hardest things i've ever done. I balled like a baby. The vet guy asked if i wanted to spend some time with him alone and of course i did. Sucked bad. Still not over it, but just recently have considered the possibility of getting another dog. Time heals all.

Oh the vet asked me if i wanted to stay in there with him while they do their thing. I couldn't do it at the time, but now i regret not being there in the room. My gf actually stayed in there with him. She said it was also one of the hardest things she had to do. His name was Bodie.

Get another pet right away...

I hAve 3 cats. Got the cats for each children had. I never liked cats until I owned 1, 2, then 3.
The oldest cat we got for our oldest son was 18. Had to put her down and it was very sad. The next day I called shelters all over the Chicago area. Our second cat is a Flame Point Siamese, and they are very smart and beautiful. I found a Siamese kitten in Crystal Lake IL and drove 45 miles to buy it as a small kitty.
I brought this little beautiful kitty into the house, and he immediately put smiles on very sad faces. He is the best little animal, and even tho he is not the cat we put down, he brings smiles to everyone in my house everyday, multiple times and I really love him as he has filled a void and is just awesome.
If you can, go and get another dog or animal ASAP. It really will help you bigtime.

I'm sure we have all gone through this a few times in our lives.
Between Dogs, Cats and even Horses I probably went through this a dozen times.

I held Cubbie, I wouldn't have it any other way. He went knowing how much he was loved.
