Linebacker Tahj Jones and tight end Tyler Edwards are among four LSU players declared academically ineligible for the remainder of the football season, The Times-Picayune reported Wednesday.

Citing a source close to the program, the paper reported linebacker D.J. Welter and offensive lineman Evan Washington, both sophomores, are the other ineligible players.

Jones is the only starter among the four. He saw significant playing time last season with one start and made 27 tackles. He will be replaced in the lineup by junior Luke Muncie, the paper reported.

Jones and Edwards were not listed on LSU's game roster Saturday, but Welter and Washington were.

Edwards played in 39 games in three years with one start and one pass reception for 10 yards. He was often used as a blocker in multiple tight end sets.

Welter played in seven games last season and had five tackles. Washington redshirted in 2010 and did not play last season because of an injury.
