Looking for suggestions/experiences with different models. My 2002 Explorer has bitten the dust. I would like something a little smaller that gets decent gas mileage. I need either a small SUV or a hatchback with enough room for my Golden Retriever. Trying to stay under 20K for a used one.

Any of ya'll have a car/SUV that you have been real happy with?

Thanks

Subaru legacy's are nice.

You can always take out the chip in them if you don't need AWD and want better gas mileage

AWD means nothing to me ... we get very little bad weather.

Those used 4 cylinder econo cars & suv's are bringing high prices right now. I got friends in the car business; the prices they pay at the wholesale auction are what they used to get for the cars retail. Everyone wants to save $ on gas.

If you have cash, keep an eye on Craigslist and when something decent comes along, grab it right away. The good listings sell fast.

I had not thought about Craigslist for a car ... And yes I'm paying cash. I have not had a car payment in years.

grab a new kia sorrento....great suv now plus awesome warranty....

I'm pretty sure those come with a complimentary rainbow sticker attached, if you are into that kind of thing.

On a serious note, buy something you can be proud of.

A little trick to find a car you like...

Use Carmax search feature... they basically have every car. just put in a large distance. its a great way to find exactly what kind of car you want

well I meant ONLY to find what kind of car you like. then you can search for that kind elsewhere
haha nice trick.

i always use to do this with stores like Best Buy.. super high prices on electronics.. but they got all the tv;s.players.computers/etc plugged in and useable.. so go on over to the store.. test out all the gadgets.. pick one out, then ebay.amazon it for 30-50% less priced ;)
