43 seconds left and all he does is center the ball and play for a 42 yard FG? Yeah 42 is a chip shot, good call Bill.

It is not a XP. You got Tom Brady and tons of good WRs and their D is exhausted and your playing for a 42 yard FG?

Usually when the other team lets you win, you might wanna you know, WIN.

Hard to diss Belichick too much since he is the best coach of our generation but god he might be losing it to do something that stupid.

That's nothing. NE actually won the game, but were ripped off one TD:

TD 14:04 Kevin Kolb 5 Yard Run (Jay Feely Kick is Good)
Drive info: 9 plays, 75 yds, 3:46 20 9

FG 6:50 Stephen Gostkowski 53 Yard Field Goal is Good
Drive info: 6 plays, 29 yds, 1:11 20 12

TD 2:49 Rob Gronkowski 5 Yard Pass From Tom Brady (Tom Brady Pass to Rob Gronkowski For Two-Point Conversion is No Good)
Drive info: 11 plays, 82 yds, 3:36 20 18

TD 0:58 Danny Woodhead 10 Yard Run
Drive info: 6 plays, 6 yds, 1:00 20 18

The time has come to recognize that the talent level of the Patriots has fallen off. In their prime, there is no way the Arizona Cardinals would come into Foxboro and lead most of the way and win outright.

Good point Ted. They are missing key players and Brady didn't look all that sharp today until the last few minutes.

lol, Classic NFL overreaction to 1 game you see every week on this board (or any board)

Came within 1 min of winning the superbowl last year. Wow they lost a game week 2, it happpens.

The point is Belichick is an idiot for not knowing how to run the clock as well as some 17 year old playing Madden while on shrooms.

Didn't mean to offend your feelings, but I have been noticing the Patriots drop off over the past couple of years even though they made the Superbowl. They rely completely on Brady and their defense is a shadow of their former great teams. They won't reach the Superbowl this year.

I don't think my feelings were hurt, its ok.

Their D is likely much better than last year and their O is still obviously what it is. The point of the thread was more about the pathetic clock management (if you could even call it clock management)

How many rings would Belichick have won if the damn refs hadn't jobbed me with that horrendous tuck rule call against Oakland in '02? New England has and has had a bunch of classy players and coaches but Belichick will never have to worry about being one of those. Lot of parity this year. Looks like we are in for a great ride! PS Coughlin has out coached Belichick twice in the Super Bowl or Belichick could have retired as the best coach in modern history!

No the Patriots will win the superbowl, Tom Brady will win the Heisman...retroactively, and for good measure the patriots will play Bama in the national championship to teach them who wears the big pants..Patriots for ever!

This isn't just on Belicheat. For whatever reason NFL/College coaches have this stupid theory of playing for FGs. 3 things have to go perfectly in order to ensure the attempt is good. As Patsfan said, why not try and get either a TD or closer. The only argument against trying to move further is a sack or holding penalty that could make it a 50+ yard FG.

Regardless of the make or the miss, I still think the decision was terrible. Auburn did it vs Oregon and thought it was a bad move. Tom Brady is an all-time QB and for them not to attack from th 25 yard line is pathetic.

Pats getting old...need an upgrade in almost all areas besides QB.

If Brady goes down they would be about as good as the Colts last year.

Yeah exactly, anyone could figure this out. You see teams screw it up less and less as the years go on, but still amazing when you see a team that usually doesn't beat themselves like the Pats screw it up.

When you have Gronk, Lloyd, Welker and an all-time QB pretty much a no brainer you don't center the ball and kill 40 seconds.

Not sure how to answer this one, other than to say, VERY recent history suggests you can look awful in the reg season and win the SB. Recent history isn't always a lock as a guide but it sure does show you that if the Pats can get to post season, anything can happen. Sure they looked flat, so did Philly last week.....

The guys on NFL Matchup were saying last week that with the two tight end offense, the Pats were virtually unstoppable.
