Washington Redskins receiver Joshua Morgan felt the full downside of the social media age this week, receiving death threats and other venomous message on Twitter because of his fourth-quarter blunder in the loss to the St. Louis Rams.

Morgan talked Wednesday about the nastiness he's heard from fans since his unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for throwing the ball at Cortland Finnegan. The penalty cost the Redskins valuable field position during the team's final drive in Sunday's 31-28 defeat.

''I heard everything, especially when they get you on Twitter and are sending you death threats and wishing you bad things and your firstborn,'' Morgan said. ''You see it all, you hear it all. You never let it get to you, especially with me being from D.C. They treated me kind of like they did (San Francisco 49ers return man) Kyle Williams last year when he dropped a punt against the Giants.''

Morgan said the threats are keeping him focused. He said he wasn't tempted to discontinue his Twitter account.

''The only thing I take seriously is football and my family, and nothing really scares me,'' he said.

Morgan said he's been fined over the penalty but doesn't yet know the amount. He also said he wouldn't be throwing such a tantrum again. After all, raising the ire of fans is one thing, but getting a cold stare from the coaching staff is something else.

''Especially with coach Mike Shanahan,'' he said, ''none of us are dumb enough to make the same mistake twice.''

The Redskins play Cincinnati on Sunday.

In other countries they just don't stop at threats. Just ask Andres Escobar. I heard Uday Hussein used to torture Iraq's Olympic athletes. Also 3 Sudanese Olympic athletes went AWOL after failing to qualify for the medal rounds because they knew Kony was going to fuck them up and kill them. Conflict countries like Sudan can't afford to lose money on the training of failed Olympic athletes.

Some people will say look what this country has become and I say Americans know where to draw the line.

Andres Escobar lost a "World CUp" not a league match so lets not stretch the truth here. I am sure there is some athlete some where in south america or eastern Europe that has been killed over a league match, but still that wont happen over here. (well over there since I am not there as I type). Secondly the sudanese athletes arent running from Kony. You would sooner say they are running from Bashir (president of Sudan) than kony. Take it from one who has been lectured at great length to watch his tail because I am in a "region run by Al Shabab terrorists, Al qaeda and Joseph Kony.)

Any way Kony is off in the Central African Republic dense forests thus far successfully dodging our own Drones and "military advisers" hunting for him.

The people twitting him those ugly messages are no different than your typical internet bullies. Hiding being the anonymity of modern day electronic devices gives people huge balls.

Its just talk and a good lesson to athletes as to why they should limit their media exposure. If they dont want to then get used to getting death threats from a 13 year old school drop out smoking meth in mama's basement.

I hate this social media shit where everybody has a voice. I thought when the public finally had a voice to be heard it would be more like that Christian Slater movie "Pump Up The Volume" from 1990. But instead the internet and their social websites like Twitter and Facebook just show how ignorant, racist and insensitive people can be. It was cool when TV stations like MTV and shit allowed people to text and message the Total Request Live show and such and allowed them to express the pleasure for a video or a band or something. But when CNN stooped down to that audience participation level and let people post their comments on the bottom of the screen on political and criminal matters it became just too much.

These punks making death threats at these athletes that make errors might actually be helping them get over their mistake and the depression that follows quicker because for every one person that makes a death threat there are 100 other people that will make a comment like it is not the end of the world and that nobody is perfect. Donnie Moore might not have gone attempted murder/suicide on his wife then himself if his choke job happened today. Then again his wife might have escalated the incident herself. They say both him and his wife were arguing before he shot her. I imagine her bitching him out about she not being able to show her face anywhere without someone mentioning his failures and just kept on and kept on hitting that sore spot so Donnie just said fuck it.
