I 've bought about three-four 1970's model Toyotas that have turned the clock twice back in the 80's....Corollas and a pick-up....I don't think I paid more than $300 for any of them !

You can't get cars like that anymore for nothing !

A 1976 Toyota Corolla type car has not been surpassed for quality.....or even a 60's VW Beetle.

I'd like to comment on this thread but feel i'll jinx myself if I do.

We'll just say I have an audi with high mileage still running great.

Except for a lemon mustang i had in about 78-79 i cant remember ever buying a car that had less than the 85K my current 1 had. Best car i ever owned was an 89 Corolla i got my daughter in like 01..it had 130K and was just like new. True story....she totaled it while in a funeral procession.......lol

whats considered "high miles" nowadays? seems like 100k use to be the standard but most of the used cars seem to have 100k on them now....i'm driving a 130k lexus right now....bought with around 80-90k on it i think

In 1998, I bought a Honda Accord with 125k miles on it. I put another 125k on it before I traded it in for a new car.

Lol at trading in a car with 250k, what did you get for it.

Most I ever bought was a car with 70k. it was a pontiac sunfire, what I called a sunsplash... treated me extremely well even if it was girly.

but only ever bought 3 cars, owned 4.... dodge intrepid with like 60k, went crazy by the time it had 80k, had to get rid of it

My first car was 1975 Dodge Dart ( slant 6, 225 CU). I bought that for I think about 2k, maybe 2.5K in 1979 with about 40-60k miles on it. I drove it cross country 3 times and owned it for about 10 years....pretty damn good for a 70's American car, had over 200k when I sold it. I took it to Mexico at least 8-10 times when I lived in san diego back in the 80's.

Bought a car with 202K on it (1998 Nissan Altima), learned how to drive stick on it and it treated me well for 3 years. Then it died at 242k :-(.

We use small pickup trucks in our business for deliveries. I've bought several 1995-2000 Toyota Tacomas w/ 100K - 150K miles on them. They run forever as long as we maintain them.
