NFL should just outbid some Division 1 schools and permanently replace the officials like Reagan did to the Air Traffic Controllers

Sorry, but I don't really sympathize with the plight of the officials. Why would I? These guys make between $150k to $200k a year and they still feel they deserve some lavish pension. Sounds like the government workers here in California. What do they work....like 51 days a year? Sounds like a pretty cushy job to me. And after their 3 days are over, they go back to their regular jobs. Cry me a river already! Just permanent replace these guys with some higher caliber refs and let's get this show on the road.

I would say that the only difference in this scenario and that of government unions is you aren't forced to buy the tickets or team merchandise, or watch the games on TV (unlike taxpayers that are forced to pay income tax to support government workers).

then who refs Division 1 schools ?

That's their problem. If the NFL can outbid them, then they'll have to deal with finding replacement refs the same way they do when their refs retire. Had this been done in the off season, they would probably just recruit from their lower ranks the same way they normally do. Those refs are much more attuned to be able to handle the speed of the college game. The NFL need the best division one refs to be capable of officiating their games.

2 points ( not arguing with your opinion ) just stating mine .

1 Div 1 football is played at a faster pace then the NFL .
2 Division 1 refs are corrupt .

Again , Just my take on your thoughts .

Can't comment on the corruption charge (that's a subjective comment). Would they be better than the current officials?

I can't agree that division 1 is played at a faster pace than the NFL. There are far more clock stoppages in college than in NFL , the NFL doesn't even stop the clock to move the chains on first down (the chain gangs are johnny on the spot) in college they temporarily stop the clock to move chains.

imo , the nfl is played at a far more rapid pace.

Completely agree. Most of these guys are lawyers and doctors who most likely already have a nice pension waiting in the wings from their primary profession and they also want their pension plan from their part time job.

i agree 200%, these %^%$# refs work PART TIME, and make this kind of money! its absurd to ask for more. colin cowherd stated on his show that he is siding with the owners on this, because part time workers in the real world and real jobs are not entitled to the benefits they are asking for. it is disgusting, the way pro sports has become (the money and greed), and i'm slowly losing interest in pro sports. the average american can hardly pay his/her light and food bill..........and these part time refs and their union are asking for these absurd benefits. imo, give them an ultimatum, set a date, and if they're not there, fire them all and find something else. i know that these current refs are not up to par, but manage the rest of the year, and make decisions in the off season. jmho, lol.
