I was left with some railroad bearer bonds that have never been canceled/redeemed. I have been trying to cash-in these bonds for the past 9 months, but to no avail so far. Had a couple people in the investment sector try to cash them for me, but it all comes down to this........I been told the bonds have been escheated to the state. Any ideas? Thanks

The railroads still in business? obviously if they, or possible successors that purchased them, are out of business, then you would get nothing. If they are in business, you should be able to cash them.

From what i know , which may be nothing, most of these had a value limit so its not like they have been compounding interest all these years. And i believe they were made illegal years ago and a holder had a certain time period to redeem them or they went to the state. Some really old ones stated they were redeemable in gold and they were all cancelled/converted years ago....

1 option you should look into however is those unclaimed property deals your state should have. It may be possible the state has the funds as unclaimed property, i doubt it but but i'd surely look into it....
