I just got done watching the 1981 TV version of this film with Randy Quaid and Robert Blake. I never seen the original with Burgess Meredith but this TV version is way better than the 1992 version with John Malkovich and Gary Sinise.
Randy and Robert nailed the roles of Lenny and George.
I gotta try the apple pie with milk poured over it like Curly and his father were eating.
For some reason I never felt George's friendship with Lenny was genuine. I think he used Lenny as a crutch just so his own life and dreams didn't seem so pathetic and out of reach. I think George needed Lenny more than Lenny needed George. George was somewhat of a pipsqueak and a talker. I think he used Lenny and his strength to get his employment. Similar to the beginning of "The Blind Side" where the father used Michael Oher and his size to get his own boy into that school. I don't think George could hack it on his own during the Great Depression era. George tried to convince himself and anybody that would listen that Lenny was holding him back when in reality Lenny was the one that allowed them to survive.
