A man who apparently lost his job at a Minnesota sign-making business returned to the company and allegedly killed four people before fatally shooting himself. The shooting took place at Accent Signage Systems in the Bryn Mawr neighborhood in Minneapolis at about 4:35 p.m. Thursday, according to a statement released this morning by the Minneapolis Police Department.
The suspected shooter has been identified as 36-year-old Andrew Engeldinger, a former employee who recently lost his job at Accent Signage Systems, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.
Police wearing body armor began searching Engeldinger's home early this morning.
The bodies of the four victims were found shortly after police arrived at the scene while evacuating other employees, according to the police statement. Police have not officially named the gunman or the victims. Minneapolis Police Deputy Chief Kristine Arneson would only confirm that the shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The company's owner, Reuven Rahamim, was killed in the shooting, according to the newspaper.
Four others who were hurt in the shooting were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. Three of the victims are listed in critical condition with gunshot wounds. The fourth victim had minor injuries, according to police.
"We received three patients who came to the hospital and they are in critical condition and they continue to be in critical condition this evening. They are three adult males," Christine Hill, the hospital's Media Relations Specialist, told ABC News Thursday evening.
Director of Operations John Souter and production manager Eric Rivers were among the four that were taken to the hospital, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The other two victims in the hospital have not been identified.
Police originally reported that at least two people were killed Thursday afternoon, but later would only say that "several" bodies had been found inside the business.
Barbara Haynes was driving home from her teaching job when she got stuck in traffic near the scene.
"I've never seen that many police vehicles on the scene and SWAT teams, uniforms, the guns ... pretty heavy artillery," Haynes told ABC News.
Marques Jones, 18, of Minneapolis, said he was outside a building down the street having his high school senior pictures taken when he and his photographer heard gunfire that sounded close.
"We heard about four to five gunshots," Jones said. "We were shocked at what happened and we just looked at each other. We all just took off running to our vehicles."
Accent Signage Systems' website says the company makes interior signage and listed its founder as Rahamim.
Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak said employees who were working when the shootings occurred were together and being cared for Thursday evening.
"We are deeply sorry about what has happened here," he said, calling the shootings "a horrible tragedy."
ABC News Radio and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I am pretty sure everyone of us works with coworkers who we don't like or make our jobs difficult. So multiply that X 1000 when you get shit-canned and are mentally unstable and view the loss of your job as the end of the world.

The shooter might have very well hated these co-workers and targeted them intentionally. It's not like the movie theater guy killing strangers.

It's like the old saying, If I'm going down.. I'm taking you with me.

Wish people would just move on....but when they are unstable, they aren't thinking right.

you have to wonder how much of this can be contributed to the class warfare being used by our current administration.

wouldn't surprise me if people come out in defense of this killer because he killed owners and bosses and spared the 'workers'

Killed 4 and wounded others I believe. How do you figure he "spared" the workers?

i don't think he spared anyone or is justified in anyway, i said I wouldn't be surprised if someone tried to justify this animals actions, not saying anyone will or should,

just sayin with today's attitude against business owners and capitalism, when someone gets fired and then goes on a killing spree, the news likes to divert blame from the shooter towards some current issue

Texans, having a gun on your person isn't the answer. An active shooter scenario is very unpredictable, you don't plan on getting shot at when you go to work.

He might, since he's a cop.

Let me preface this by saying. I can never understand taking another persons life but I am sure this guy must have felt he was seriously screwed over. I told my company to go fuck themselves almost 3 months ago after 15 years of working for them because I got screwed over big time. I won't get into the details but the only thing I can say is on my last day working, my boss who I broke my balls for, day in and day out for 10 years, made a ton of money for, didn't even have the courtesy to turn around and say good luck or thank you to me. All I got was an ok when I told her I was leaving. I can't wish enough ill will on that greedy, selfish bitch. That being said, walking in and shooting her never crossed my mind.

Would you kill a co-worker if you knew you would get away with it? Obviously walking into work and shooting them would not be ideal.

I should've said the normal person. I know Texans is a cop. He's also a pretty good dude.

I agree Tex is a good guy....but cop and soldier are kind of the two top legit jobs where getting shot at is sort of in your daily plan...and he's been both !

Killing the UPS driver is pretty bad....that guy couldn't have screwed you over, he was just there at a bad time.

I never worked with or even casually knew and hated somebody well enough to kill them with immunity.

Now let me review some prison records and I'd need a large staff to assist me in picking out about 100 a day to execute in perpetuity... that's 36,500 of the worst annually, ten years to make a decent dent in the million or so that should be prisoners of interest....those 100 a day would get replaced with new ones for a few decades anyway.
