I think there's value in Detroit 9:1 to win WS and 4.5:1 to win AL..Placed a small amount on each. Not necessarily saying they will win...there's just value at 9:1 since they will be in the playoffs barring an epic collapse.

What other teams have value; discuss.

I think Braves at 6-1 to win NL is decent value, although they could be out in 9 innings.
If they survive the one game "series" vs Cards, they would then host the next two games if I'm understanding the new ridiculous playoff format correctly. Worth a shot with their SPs and bullpen.

I agree this format is ridiculous. I want to see who's pitching that game..but interesting idea.

Thanks, Knick Fan. It looks like the Bravos will definitely go with Medlen, but the Cards have options and I'm damn curious to see who they go with. Carp is pitching tonight so he's definitely a no go for Friday. That leaves Lohse or Wainwright for the one gamer. The Braves will be slight favorites. I imagine if the Reds are the #1 seed, they would not wish to see the Cards win that WC game. I think either WC team will be formidable.

For now I like this format, though my opinion could change after the postseason im sure. As a AL east fan i think it has made the end of the regular season much more exciting. Win your division and don't worry about the play in game. I dont even want to call the wildcard game the postseason yet, i think play in game is more appropriate now that i think about it. But the play in game is worse a factor for a strong division, as a wild card team could potentially be the 2nd best team in the majors (record wise), and have to win one game to really get to the postseason, which might be the worst case for this format, but it makes that division race that more exciting and important. There are going to be a lot of different dynamics to come at the end of seasons if they keep the format. I don't think increasing the importance of winning the division is a bad thing.

also as an AL East fan i secretely wanted there to be a 3 team tie at the top with the yanks o's and rays. especially if there are more ties throughout the american league, like 3 way ties for the wildcard and division ties. ITS CRAZY.

well my Detroit wagers be looking real good.

Which of these 2 is a better hedge for the world series? Small amount on each of the NL teams to win the WS right now. Or wait til world series time and hedge out 1/5-1/2 depending on how I feel about it at the time / how the prices of wagers and pitching situation looks.
