What are your courses of action for telemarketers that still call you?

Call your AG's office (Attorney General). They'll put you in touch with the proper office.

That sounds like an option...thanks.

A lot of the calls lately are from the campaign douches as you can imagine.

*Reminder: Even if your number is registered, charities, political organizations, and telephone surveyors may continue to call you. Companies with which you do business may also continue to call, unless you have asked them to stop calling you. If you have asked them to stop calling, please keep a record of the date you made the request and include that information in the comment section of any complaint you submit against that company. Click Here for more information about the companies that may continue to call the numbers on the Registry.

The laws vary by state, with some having up to a 20,000 dollar fine for a call to a household on the do not call list. If you are not on the list, and recieve a call, you can ask the caller to place you on the do not call list and they must do so in 31 days. I am in the financial services industry and I used to cold call 10 hours a day. When you are new in the business, it is the best and cheapest way to build up your contacts.

Instead of seeking legal action, try to understand that there is a person on the other end of the phone. 99 percent of cold callers are not trying to scam you, most are professionals with college educations that are trying to make a living in this world just like everyone else. Even further, it takes great courage, determination, and ambition to make these calls. So instead of blindly saying no, listen to what the person has to say, because if they are willing to cold call imagine how dedicated they must be to what they do. However,if you are one of those people that is not even going to listen to what the caller has to say (which is perfectly within your right), simply politely thank them for the phone call and tell them you are not interested. You have no idea how much of a difference that makes in that persons day.

You must be joking.

If I'm on a the "do not call registry" that means I don't want you to call me PERIOD. I don't care who is on the other end of the phone, how educated you are or what you are trying to do. If I am on the list it means don't call me ever.

And since they choose to call me even though I am on the list, I'm not listening to anything. I simply pick up the phone and then hang it up.

You'll still get calls from political parties or those doing surveys about politics. It is one of the entities that are allowed to call even if you are on the DNC registry. Matter of fact businesses can actually buy the DNC list. So the DNC list is much ado about nothing.

If you don't like the calls, don't answer them, it can't be any simpler.

Not trying to be the bad guy in this topic however the majority of the people calling for political outfits are volunteers and are trying to stand for a candidate or prop on their states ballot that they believe in. They are typically on a call bank or a dialer system and don't know the number they are calling or the name. No need to be a douche to the people that are actually trying to make a difference, whether you believe in it or not.

One other point I forgot to mention. Do you truly believe that some government agency alerts every single business out there that you are on that list? If I am A&B Pizza a small business that just started in your area and I somehow got your phone number by googling your address since you are in my area, do you really think I know you are on the DNC list?

A persons phone number isn't that hard to find no matter if it's unlisted, on a DNC list or a cell phone. People give up information freely for all kinds of things. The DNC is a joke if you ask me and find a big name company that's been charged under "the law" A legitimate cause as to why you called can always be made, it's just a matter of showing how the information is obtained and traced back to you giving it out somewhere along the way.

My number is easy just call me at 1-800-hot-pizza.

This is a very small problem in the grand scheme of things. Does it really bother you if you get calls? Don't answer or screen your calls

Debt collectors , charitable organizations , and political campaign and/or political poll takers are exempt from the do not call registry. Nothing you can do about it.

I will never understand why people act like the world is coming to an end because someone called them. That was phones are for. If it is such a disaster for you to receive a phone call, don't answer. And if you do answer, DONT PANIC, it will be ok, you will survive it i promise.

Why do you think I think the world is coming to an end? I merely asked a question.

Why do you think it's ok to call me when I'm on the do not call registry? I understand you need to make a living but when I'm on that list, I've made a decision and you are supposed to honor that decision.

I have a phone and it's not for guys like you to call me when I'm eating my chicken and having a beer. It's for me to use as I see fit. And it's not just one call. It's usually 4 a night.

Again, I ask you, why are telemarketers calling me when I'm on the list?

Large firms provide lead lists that have been pre "scrubbed". Meaning the list has been screened and those names that are on the do not call list have been removed. However, from experience, I know that even fortune 100 companies still make some mistakes and include some names that shouldn't (or sometimes people believe they are on the dnc but really arent). Easy solution though, the name can be taken off the list of numbers and the household can be added to the national do not call list by just a few clicks of the mouse from the employee. In fact, it is the employees responsibility to do so. I have done it many times and as long as everyone is civil its no big deal. As for the timing of the phone calls, obviously they are going to call you when you will most likely be home, which is in the evening. Trust me, thats not how the caller wants to be spending their nights either.

But to your question; unless this person is calling you from one of those organizations that do not have to follow these rules (Debt collectors , charitable organizations , and political campaign), all you have to do is instead of hanging up without saying anything, ask to be put on the DNC and be taken off their call lists and that will take care of it.
