Read the Chicago papers, and you'll see that the Cubs have checked-out for this last series against the Astros. Yesterday they got 2-hit by a mediocre pitcher and even the Cubs' manager Sveum admitted that his players are "sleepwalking at the plate." The Cubs are 2-8 in their last 10 games and 1-7 in their last 8 home games.

Meanwhile, the Astros are 6-4 in their last 10, and they are coming off a road series win against the Brewers. The Astros have hit 12 HR's in their last 4 games. In his last start, Bud Norris gave up only 2 hits in 7 innings vs the Cardinals. He has been roughed up by the Cubs in the past, but for tonite I think he'll see a Cubs team that just wants to get this over. Even if he gets hit hard, the Astros will be in this game as long as Volstad is on the mound for the Cubs. Volstad has an 11.37 ERA in his last three starts. Astros should hit him early and often.

The Astros are trying to avoid setting the club record for most losses in a season, so they have something to play for. They need to sweep the Cubs to do that, and they probably will.
