Not sure why he bats 3rd. I think he's more of a 5 or 6 hitter.. Cano and grander son are swinging the bat better..... Grounds in Back to back double plays to kill the inning.... I wonder what the record is for # of hitting into double plays in single game.

im a yank fan and i hate watching tex hit. they could be hitting him there so he is in front of hitters that pitchers do not want to face (which might create more fastball counts or hittable pitches), rather than behind all the good hitters.

I mostly hate tex for not bunting when the infield shifts. Girardi might tell him not to or might not want him to, if thats the case then screw him. Nobody is better than a free basehit. AND if he does bunt for a basehit here and there, teams will stop shifting. And if he isn't good at bunting, he has a whole offseason or has had his entire life to get decent, not to mention millions of dollars and top baseball coaches in the game at his disposal to help.

haha, I just told my buddy the same thing. With even 2 flyballs it could be a 3-2 game pretty easily. I have to over, so I'm not very happy with tonights performance - 6 men left on base. What a piece.

Agreed, not that hard to bunt a baseball!

Tex does have an awesome glove. Tops in the league at first and has made Jeter and Cano both better in the field by saving their asses numerous times.

Rough day at the office for mark... 2 double plays with 1 out, 1 ground out, 1 pop out, and 1 fly out that could if ended the game.... An above average baseball player would if win the game... I'm glad he didn't pull a hamy trying to beat out the double play.

like i said average hitter...he has no business batting 3-5 with a stacked Yanks line-up...hopefully he can turn it around in playoffs but it ain't going to happen when the play A's... my team will have him seeing 3-d after getting K'd so many times... hahah

Take2&hit - this thread was started yesterday when he was batting higher up in the order and grounded in multiple DP with a runner on third both times while being down a single run.... he fits better lower in batting order.. average hitter... his batting avg. has declined ever since 2009 by 40 points...250 = avg. hitter

not bagging on him... Only pointing out the facts.. hitting sacrifices runs will not reduce BA and increase RBI's

I'm looking at 600+ AB's and 100+ RBI's the last few yrs. What he can't run?

Or maybe he's not as good as Mattingly...

Don't even get me started on that one.

look at baseball-reference.com ... this site has a bunch of cool stats on Mark... ever since 2009 his BA has declined since joining Yanks... probably the big show got him a bit... Mark is not a HOF and cannot be compared to Mattingly... Mattingly has a career BA above 300. Marks at 279 and declining year over year.... facts are good when rating players

Ok

But if he's not batting third, which is where we started, it comes down to Girardi has to fit in someplace and making a lineup has many factors and the best place is to bat him third on that particular day against that particular opposition. No?
