LVH HOTEL: (formerly the Las Vegas Hilton) is under
foreclosure after defaulting on its $252 million mortgage
and an auction sale will be held in November. However,
the LVH is open and has not ceased operations.
The LVH is on Paradise Road and has 2,950 rooms.
But believe me; Elvis has left the building!

Dec.31= "SHE by Mortons" steakhouse opens headed by Eva Longoria.
The restaurant is to be a 1920s themed steakhouse, designed and
operated with a woman's taste in mind but will be open for everyone.
Trappings like tiered seating, 3D projection mapping, cryogenic fog
and rain curtains will give it a thoroughly modern feel. The menu will
feature "boutique steakhouse dishes" and small-bites dishes that the
owners hope will appeal to the ladies. In addition, female-oriented
entertainment will include a fashion runway and a central dance floor
with entertainment in five-minute vignettes. The nightclub will have a
theatrical element to it with sexy female performers, like Cirque du Soleil.
The location of SHE is in the Crystals Mall in City Center, the same place
as her failed, $5.7 million, BESO restaurant and EVE nightclub were located.
If you don't succeed at first, and you have rich backers, you try and try again

I still miss the Stardust, first place I ever stayed at in the 80's. I started off in the motor lodge my first time ever. Something about that place and it's history that I liked. The place had a feel about it that they actually cared about it's players.

Read something about this yesterday and couldn't believe it.

We can only hope that Someone comes to help bail them out.
This also might be trouble on the Future of the LVH Contest... ^<<^

I am sure another casino would take over the format and do this again? I mean they have to make quite a bit of money on a contest like this, let alone notoriety and other things

The word that springs to mind is character, that place has a lot of character. Needs saving.

The only way they make money is if the people putting in their entries gamble while they're there. I believe that the prize money is returned 100%, and they even throw in a bonus for anyone hitting 60-65%.

I believe u are correct.. I had forgotten that part.. but I still believe it is profitable for them..

besides the proxy aspect (and even then someone has to show up to make the picks) they have 400+ people coming to put in entries each week.. so they have a chance to gamble/stay/eat/ etc and I am sure that is why they do the contest with 100% payback.. not to mention the tradition of hosting the championship of capping..

Agreed. I just watched the Elvis documentary shot at the Hilton back in 1970 ( then called the "International"). The LVH has a colorful history.

I'm sure they will save it or remodel it at some point. They need a major hotel adjacent to the convention center.

Their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square.

First went to the Las Vegas Hilton in 1989 to see the Superbook which was the largest in it's day and a sports bettor and horse race player's dream. Can't say that I'm all that surprised as the location of being on Paradise Road and not on the strip probably really deeply hurt the bottom line. I always noticed that traffic, particularly during weekdays, was way down compared to the casinos on the strip. Once the mega hotels were built on the strip, it probably was the final nail in the coffin as the competition was too stiff. Notice, the Flamingo Hilton, which is on the strip in prime location, is still very busy and likely financially sound. JMO!

What would happen if you had future tickets and this placed closed down before the tickets could be cashed?

Shit out of luck?

Has that ever happened to anyone before?

Some one like William Hill would probably take them on. It has happened before and I think another book did take it.
