Yes Camp Geiger in North Carolina. Mispelled the name earlier. Sorry. Without a doubt the biggest cock a roach I have ever seen was at Camp Geiger. I remember walking patrols in the snow and sleet there before heading to Fort Sill in Oklahoma for even more cold miserable weather. MCT at Camp Geiger was a butt kicker back then.
If I read correctly, the guy also participated in a worm eating contest before the cockroach eating contest.
I'm not sure why, but this is fairly interesting to me. I wonder if there is some small bit of toxin in these bugs which doesn't do much if you eat the daily recommended amount of 0 to 1, but if you eat more than, well...50....that it accumulates and kills you. Kind of like eating bitter almonds. A few are great for cooking, but too many and see ya later.
