This is not really ATS directed but during the off season I remarked that there might be something in the water down there in Cajun land. At this point of the season LaTech is #1 in Scoring Defense, La Monroe is #22 and La Lafayette is # 24. Combined they are 12-5 ATS (71%). Coincidence or not.

In looking over the current ncaa statistics this popped out at me. The 10 lowest ranked teams in Scoring Offense are a combined 18-45 ATS (29%). They are S Miss, Kentucky, Memphis, Illinois, Auburn, UTEP, Colorado St, Idaho, FAU and Tulane.

Conversely you would think that the highest 10 ranked teams in Scoring Offense might be better than they are. YTD combined they are 27-31 ATS (47%).
They are La Tech, Oregon, Okla St, Baylor, Texas A&M, Florida St, W Virginia, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas.

Russ,

what site do you use to collect the stats?

Or do you keep your own?

For ATS stuff I use vegasinsiders.com, I use ncaa statics for everything else. I break them down by using both.

Russ, how bout the offensive & defensive efficiency numbers? Do you have a big enough sample size? These worked real well in the bowls.

I will begin putting together my spreadsheet after week 8. I think that is a good enough sampling to see how it goes. I have full confidence in the bowl data because it has 12 games of data and a lot can change from week 9 thru week 12. I am not sure how accurate it is in that interim period but we shall see. Maybe I can isolate some games that standout for one reason or another. Another thing about bowls is that sometimes teams are back to full strength and injured players are again available. At this point in the season a key injury can throw the stats right out the window.
