Where are you coming from? I'll be there both days, you'd have a better night in Santa Monica than Arcadia but if you didn't want to go that far Pasadena would be the place to go, ten mins away.

didn't you read the other thread? racing is dead dude...

seriously though....i'm not a west coaster so i can't help ya but the breeders cup i seriously the greatest gambling day of the year...imo it rivals the first round of ncaa...crazy money and crazy scores to be had...seriously worth a look if you've never played before... Classic looks WIDE OPEN imo too.

im not a rookie been playing horses for over 45 years and handicapping for over 20+ years. been to most of the tracks in the country but never made it to santa anita was wondering aroune the track if there was any nightclubs or resturants that somebody could suggest;
I got rooms in rosemeade, about 10 minutes from track but dont know how that area is and what they offer there. i will be at the track friday- sunday and then back to vegas for a few more days.
Im coming out from new york and getting some serious action out there

beware of the europeans this year, i think questing will smash that ladies classic, saw her beat grace hall by about 10 at saratoga this summer and i have a feeling that richards kid does very well back in the classic on saturday since he did well a few years ago, then he :think2:went back to europe and back to california he will get double digits again this year

good luck to all on those wonderful racing days

Normal race days valet is $10 and well worth it. I think general parking is $5, but it would be a hoof.

I don't know what price range you are looking for, but there a few hotels closer. I know for a fact there is a double tree about 1 mile away on Huntington. Depending where in Rosemead you are prob looking at a 15-20 minute drive with the traffic. I know I tend to drink a few while at the track so a driver and/or distance is always an issue.

there is a bar across the street, where trotter hangs out with looney

One of my favorite movies of all time. Dreyfuss was great and so was david poindexter buster johansen or whatever his name was.

But the bar scene was great with the girl with the retainer and the "letters" guy (i see a d , it may be denver or detroit" )

... "WHAT , DO YOU LIKE THE ODDS OF LIGHTNING ?"

JoeyP , i hope you have a "REEAALLY GOOOOD DAY" !

What kind of food are you looking for?

probaly friday night maybe a nice seafood resturnant and saturday a steak house or bbq resturant

really getting siked and maybe sunday, might take a ride to the beach to say i was there and take alot of pictures
then i can figure how to put them on the computer from my phone and learn how to send them over the internet to people.

If you're in Rosemead you're 10 mins away, my advice would be get a cab and have a drink at the track. If you're not drinking the valet is 10 bucks but the non valet isn't much of a hoof, 5 min walk. As for breakfast, if you're talking about sit-down in the restaurant at the track you'd need to call and book, i'm thinking it's probably fully booked, you would have to check. There's plenty of food there that wouldn't be considered 'breakfast' and the fresh carved beef sandwiches are a must and if you don't mind Dennys there's one opposite the track.

As for clubs, Pasadena would be the place to go but if I were you I would consider (in true degenerate style) a 'double-header.' Los Alamitos race both nights the Breeders Cup is on, it's a 30 mile, 40 minute trip. They start at about 6.30 and finish at about 10.30, at which point Pasadena would be cooking pretty good.

I'm planning on doing both tracks, you're welcome to a ride down to Los Al if you fancy it, if not i'd totally understand, it's a mule track in every sense of the word, plenty of character though.

You can't go wrong with Bahooka.
http://bahooka.com/

It's a Polynesian place but the ribs there are very good. Lots of fish tanks all around. "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" with Johnny Depp had scenes filmed there.

Looks like entrees are about $20 so it looks like it will run you about $30 for good food and a good time.

It's in Rosemead too:
4501 N Rosemead Blvd Rosemead, CA 91770

the derby(nostalgic place with plenty of racing pics on the wall to take you back in time) restaurant is located 2 blocks out of the huntington dr. exit....good stuff....and expect to pay at least $20-$25 for general parking as well as admission at santa anita that weekend....another tip....if it's sunny out and you don't mind a lil sun....go in the back entrance on colorado pl. and sit in the infield....last breeders cup i was there on the friday....infield was practically empty....lot's of booths with merchandise and food/beverages to be had...and plenty of space and time to most importantly wager...cheers

i know the race you are talking about with questing...took the lead...ran BLISTERING numbers anyone that was even in the same zip code as her folded...another horse in the race broke down...Questing was all over the place coming down the stretch and DESTROYED the competition still...if the horse could ever run straight down the damn stretch she would have broken the track record...AWESOME race...gave me chills...horse is still green and could continuing progressing...one of those catch me if you can types...runs her race and simply says to the others...go ahead...try to keep up

food tents, beer tents, souvenier tents....i am ssuming you are coming up rosemead blvd. hook a right onto west huntington dr. and then stay on w. huntington as you wrap around toward the back end of the track and hook a left turn onto colorado pl....that'll take you in the back way where most of the staff head thru...much lighter traffic that way...as for seats...they have benches out on the infield...don't remember tables cuz as always i was having a good time not recognizing what was what...i am sure they do..as for the derby restaurant...in stead of hooking that left on colorado just stay on huntington and it should be on your right hand side across from the embassy suites...good luck and knock their dick in the dirt...cheers
