Your vote doesn't count anyway unless you live in a select area.

A lot of wasted gas, time and added pollution for nothing, I'm sure some will die in traffic accidents getting to the polls.

You should at least be able to do it online. I've never voted and never will under this electoral colledge BS.

Online voting would open it up to fraud like you have never seen.

Why ? I can buy something expensive online with a CC okay. It's 2012, update the process. I've been able to use a debit card at an ATM since the 80's or earlier. If the technology to do this doesn't exist, then no way did man land on the moon in 1969.

because the way it is now you at least have to show up to vote and sign a sheet of paper.
With online voting someone can go to the slums with a laptop and buy everyones vote for $5 bucks a pop.

These hackers will run for president and hack their way to victory....would be crazy.

I'm sure as it is you can but a homeless vote for $5 so that probably isn't the biggest deterrent

I 100% agree with you that the electoral system is horrible. I don't see how the overall popular vote of the country doesn't decide the election. Makes no sense to me.

But from experience I know that not voting is a mistake. I am in Indiana. Four years ago I didn't vote because I assumed my vote wouldn't matter because Indiana goes republican every election. But wouldnt you know it, we go democrat and obama is elected. I am not saying my one vote would have changed this, but it is the mentality I had that many people share, and as whole it makes a huge difference

Well , when I learned about the electoral college in school, I knew there was no point in voting. what if one state like California became so populated that it almost had enough electoral votes to carry the election by itself ?

I'd like to know what those founding father guys were thinking with this electoral college stuff.

Al Gore beat George Bush in 2000 and several other examples exist. Romney may beat O'bama this year and lose as well.

If a person values the act of voting, the time and gas is not wasted. If a person does not value the act of voting more than the time and gas it costs, they won't be voting

You seriously never took a US history class ever in your life? I remember it being explained in school at least four times: US history in highschool, US history in middle school and each time an election occured. It was a compromise when some of the country wanted each person represented in goverment, whereas others wanted each state represented. If they had insisted on deciding the president exclusively by popular vote and having congress represented exclusively by population, the smaller states never would have joined the country
