Why is Matt Cain starting Game 4 and not Game 3?

Game #3 on Saturday would be his regular 4 days rest. If he pitched Game #3, he could come back
on regular rest for Game #7. Now he can't.

Is it because he is tired?

Both teams going with a four man rotation:

S.F. - Zito, Baumgardner, Vogelsong, Cain
Detroit - Verlander, Scherzer, Sanchez, Fister
