THE GOLDSHEET

LOUISVILLE 27 - Cincinnati 19—Cincy has won last 4 vs. Louisville, but
Cards have enough to end streak vs. rival. Give L’ville key edge at QB with
Bridgewater (560 YP, 3 TDP, 0 ints. last 2) over ‘Cat Legaux (2 ints. at Toledo),
and Cincy giving up too many big plays (int. & punt return TDs were difference
vs. Rockets). TV—ESPN

triple-dime bet
107 Cincinnati 3.5 (-110) JustBet vs 108 LouisvilleAnalysis: 107 Cincinnati at LouisvilleThe Bearcats are coming off their first loss on the season last week at Toledo but the final score was not indicative as to how the game was played. Toledo scored 29 points but their only two touchdowns were on special teams and interception scores. Cincinnati dominated in yardage and lost with a negative turnover differential. Because of that outcome we have an extremely motivated underdog here who has won the last four meetings in this rivalry.
The Bearcats came out of their bye with a solid victory over Virginia Tech before blowing out in-state rival Miami Ohio. They then crushed Fordham before possibly looking past the Rockets last week. With only Syracuse and Temple on the horizon this is the game the Bearcats have circled, especially since the Cardinals enter play undefeated.
Louisville has beaten just a single team with a winning record, North Carolina, and they almost blew a huge lead in that contest. Louisville is 7-0 on the season but even in victory they have been less than impressive. A 28-21 win at Florida International when the Panthers QB didn't play the entire game, a 21-17 win at Southern Miss who has been a disaster this season, and last week they needed a late rally to beat South Florida 27-25, a Bulls team that had gone 3-12-1 ATS in conference the previous 16 Big East games. Louisville hasn't had a winning spread record at Papa John's Stadium in any year since 2006 and they lost by exactly eight points each of the last two times hosting Cincinnati. The wrong team is favored here.

NEVADA at AIR FORCE

Nevada (6-2 SU/2-6 ATS) will look to regroup this week following a 39-38 OT loss at home to San Diego State last week as -7 point favorites. Nevada, which entered the week riding a five-game win streak, was paced by QB Cody Fajardo who completed 29-of-40 passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns in the loss. Stefphon Jefferson, the nation's leading rusher with an average of 162.7 ypg, managed 108 yards and a score on 32 carries. Nevada had a 480-349 edge in total offense and converted 10-of-17 on third down. The Wolfpack scored first in overtime and San Diego State answered with a touchdown of their own and decided to go for a two-point conversion. Nevada's two losses this season have come by a combined two points. The Wolfpack dropped a 32-31 decision at home to South Florida in the second week of the season. Air Force (4-3 SU/2-5 ATS) got past New Mexico last week in a 28-23 home win as -11 point favorites. Wes Cobb scored three touchdowns as the Falcons overcame a 10-0 first quarter deficit en route to a non-cover win over the Lobos in Mountain West Conference action at Falcon Stadium. Cobb finished with 82 yards rushing on a team-high 17 carries for Air Force, while Ty MacArthur led the Falcons with 94 yards and had four of a total five receptions by the Falcons for 61 yards. QB Connor Dietz added 58 yards rushing, while going 4-of-4 passing for 61 yards for the Falcons, who have won three of their last four games since a disturbing 38-35 loss at lowly UNLV on September 22. Air Force was outgained 443-366 in total offense and turned the ball over three times. The Falcons won despite losing Cody Getz, the nation's second-leading rusher, on their first snap when he aggravated a sprained left ankle. They ended up rushing for 291 yards, but gave up 409 rushing yards to New Mexico. Nevada is 2-8 ATS following an ATS loss and 3-9 ATS in October, as well as 9-17 ATS as a favorite and 6-14 ATS as a road favorite. The Wolfpack are also 3-10 ATS in Weeks # 5 thru # 9 and 6-12 ATS against conference foes. Air Force comes in 7-3 ATS as an underdog and 17-8 ATS in their last five games of the year – and the Fly Boys rank 2nd in the nation in rushing with a robust 352 YPG. Take the home dog

Nevada at Air Force: 7 Things You Should Know

Nevada at Air Force (3.5, 66)

WEATHER: Forecasts are calling for temperatures in the mid-20s under partly cloudy skies. Winds will be light out of the south.

1. Air Force attempts an average of 10.5 passes per game and 352.7 rushing yards per game (second in the nation). But leading rusher Cody Getz (928 yards, eight TDs) is expected to miss the game with an ankle injury.

2. The Nevada Wolf Pack are a perfect 4-0 on the road this season and are averaging 44.0 points per game over those four contests.

3. The Falcons are 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall and have played under the total in their last four October contests.

4. Nevada’s Stefphon Jefferson is the leading rusher in the nation at 156 yards a game. Air Force allowed Kasey Carrier of New Mexico to rack up a Mountain-West record 338 yards on the ground against them last week. The Falcons allow 222 rushing yards per game, the 13th-worst mark in the nation.

5. “There’s no doubt that Nevada is the most athletic team we’ve played so far this season, even more so than when we went up to Ann Arbor and played Michigan,” Falcons coach Troy Calhoun said Wednesday about the Wolf Pack offense.

6. The Wolf Pack has failed to cover the spread in its last four games overall and is 0-5-1 ATS in its last six vs. a team with a winning record.

7. Nevada allowed just 102 first-half yards before giving up 247 yards and 33 points in the second half of its loss to SDSU last week.

Cincinnati at Louisville: What Bettors Need to Know

Cincinnati Bearcats at Louisville Cardinals (-3, 52)

Louisville has a great chance to remain undefeated until its regular-season finale if it simply wins the games it should win, but the No. 14 Cardinals' toughest test of the season until then awaits Friday when they host Cincinnati in the 52nd “Battle for the Keg of Nails.”

All but one of Louisville’s victories has come against teams under .500 and the only other opponent left on its schedule after the Bearcats that owns a winning record is No. 15 Rutgers – another of the 11 remaining unbeaten FBS teams. In order to hold up their end of a potential showdown of undefeated teams on Nov. 29, the Cardinals will need to play better than they did in last Saturday’s 27-25 home victory over two-win South Florida. Cincinnati suffered its first setback last weekend despite not allowing an offensive touchdown in a 29-23 loss at Toledo.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, ESPN2.

LINE: Louisville opened as big as -4 and has been bet down to a field-goal favorite. The total has come down from 53 to 52 points.

WEATHER: The forecast is calling for a 68 percent chance of rain in Louisville with temperatures in the low 50s. Winds are expected to blow north at 8 mph.

ABOUT CINCINNATI (5-1, 1-0 Big East, 3-2 ATS): The Bearcats have eclipsed 425 yards of total offense in every game this season and enter this contest averaging a Big East-best 467.5 yards. Much of the credit for that mark goes to the conference’s best rushing attack that has generated at least 200 yards in all but one game and 250 yards four times. Running back Ralph Abernathy (6.6), running back George Winn (6.3) and quarterback Munchie Legaux (6.0) lead the conference in yards per carry. Winn also ranks second in the Big East with 607 rushing yards.

ABOUT LOUISVILLE (7-0, 2-0, 3-4 ATS): A successful ground game will be important to protect a Cardinals' defense that has surrendered a conference-high 14 touchdown passes. Louisville, which ranks second in the conference in rushing, will undoubtedly try to enjoy the same success on the ground against Cincinnati that Toledo did when it gashed the Big East’s second-ranked rush defense for 229 yards. However, the Cardinals can also lean on quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who leads the conference in passer rating (165.2) and ranks third in the nation in completion percentage (73.4).

TRENDS:

* Bearcats are 4-1 ATS in their last five meetings in Louisville.
* Favorite is 11-4 ATS in their last 15 meetings.
* Road team is 6-1 ATS in their last seven meetings.

EXTRA POINTS:

1. Cincinnati leads the all-time series 29-21-1 and has claimed each of the last four meetings.

2. The Cardinals are 4-0 in games decided by less than seven points.

3. The Bearcats have won five straight and nine of their last 10 against ranked conference opponents, including their last five away from home.

Hondo

Hondo enjoyed a triple delight last night as he swept with the Buccaneers, Giants and Clemson to reduce the accounts payable to 1,325 hortons.

Tonight, Mr. Aitch expects Louisville to slug Cincy and Air Force to fly by Nevada – 10 units apiece.
