Astros’ logo leaks again; MLB says Sandy contributed to error

For the third time in less than a week, images from the Astros’ rebranding have hit the web early.
Tuesday’s leak — which displays Houston’s new hat and logo with players from the 40-man roster — comes via Major League Baseball and Astros.com.
MLB apologized Sunday for the “premature, online availability of officially-licensed product featuring the new Astros logo.”
Houston will hold an official launch party at 6 p.m. Friday at Minute Maid Park.

Update: MLB used its Twitter account to address the leak.
According to a tweet from MLB.com on Tuesday, “MLB Advanced Media, in advance of super-storm Sandy, inadvertently posted photos of players in their new uniforms on @Astros.com bio pages.”
MLB later tweeted that the new logo images had been removed.
Update: (1:15 p.m.) The Astros released a statement Tuesday regarding the leaked portion of the club’s new identity.
“This morning, a portion of the Astros’ future brand went live on the Astros’ official website, which is managed by Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM). MLBAM has since corrected the error. Fortunately, only a small portion of the Astros’ new identity was posted on the site as a result of the error.
“The Astros’ entire new identity will be revealed at the club’s official Launch Party on Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. at Minute Maid Park. At this event, the new logo, game jerseys, batting practice jersey, caps and new mascot for the 2013 season will be officially revealed.”
The event will be streamed live on astros.com.
