How is it possible for a team with that starting lineup to perform so poorly?

What are the chances they gel this year and make a championship run?

Doesn't matter what offensive fire power you have on your team the 24 second clock evens everything out. A team can only score so many points and nobody plays shutdown defense in the NBA every night. Only in the playoffs do the best team show their superiority over a lesser quality team.

I thought about that angle too, but what about the success of an older San Antonio and Boston team the past few years.

Seems to be a coaching issue to me

growing pains. you saw it with the heat, same deal with older age. they'll be alright, as much as i don't want them to be.

coaching is probably part of it too, not saying they won't have some success, but even SA and Boston didn't win anything.. Lets face it, Bryant, Nash, and Artest are all on the downside of there careers.. That bench is nothing to write home about either..

Bynum is a worthless dbag. I watched nearly every laker game last year and the guy doesn't even try. Howard has not been the problem at all for LA. He put up 33pts and 14 rebounds last night and 19 and 10 the night before. Bynum might have put up those numbers once a month but for Dwight that's just an average game.

1-8-13:

The Lakers, who lost their fourth straight to fall to 15-19, are in 11th place in the Western Conference.
''I thought we had the better team,'' World Peace said. ''We definitely had the better team, but every night we have the better team and it's just not translating to wins.''

With their record now, their upcoming schedule, and their injuries, they are a longshot to even make the playoffs
