I love soccer, but now I know why living 10M from FC Dallas stadium, I have never been. I am not trying to compare it to PL or La Liga, Bund, SerieA or any other major Euro league. The play is just awful. No ability to control the ball. I mean it looks like Indiana vs UCLA. Passing is terrible.

How does anyone enjoy this league. This is like A ball compared to MLB.

BE NICE! My job is covering the MLS lol... I'm a journalist, cover Toronto FC. It can be painful at times, but I love soccer and the MLS is on the rise right now in terms of quality.

Soccer will never be a real sport in the US as long as a freakin PLAYOFF GAME can end in a tie.

by the end of the decade more people will be watching MLS then the nhl and the league will have more power then the nhl. they have been gaining on them, this lockout will be another huge setback for the league. the nhl has already been relegated to other sports section on various major news site.

I'm a huge football fan, I watch at least ten matches a week so I like to think I know what I'm talking about. The MLS has improved a great deal over the last five years but it is terrible in comparison to the English, Spanish, German or Italian leagues. It is like watching a different sport.

Do you not understand how the away goal rule works? They don't end in ties.

No, I don't. I'm not much into soccer except during the WC, but when I saw that the Red Bulls Playoff game ended in a 1-1 tie Sat Night, that told me what I needed to know. You just can't end a playoff game in a tie and be legit in the US. I know there may be some tie breaker rule that makes it not technically a tie, but that's too complicated already. When you can't tell the winner from a final score that's posted, that's a problem.

OptionA,

Not to say that there aren't bad goals let up in the PL, but that goal that Saunders let up last night was absolutely pathetic.

The away goal rule eliminates ties. They play a two-legged playoff series after the first round. Home field advantage is a big bid deal in soccer, so it is important to allow both teams to play a home game. They add the scores from both game together and whomever has the most goals wins.

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

That's just too complicated. Could you imagine if Baseball did something like that, how silly it would be to try and explain it to someone who doesn't follow it closely?

Try explaining the infield fly rule to somone who doesn't follow baseball. How much sense does it make to have a best of seven series when the individual runs don't add up at all? You could win games one, two and three by a combined score of 100-0 and lose the next four by 1-0 each, and lose the series despite outscoring your opponent by 96 runs over seven games. Try explaining the fairness of that.

Henry was the best player in the world about six years ago but now he's an over the hill cheat who looked his age when he played for Arsenal last January.

Beckham is nothing but hype and a good cross/free kick. Useless at tackling, tracking back, heading the ball, etc. He's also about ten years past his prime.
