Any time I click a link on google link search, I get redirected to a different site.... If I go back, click it again it takes me to the right site....

I've ran 3 different virus scanners. I've googled what to do, and still been able to get rid of it for good.

Suggestions??

it might be an ADD ON in firefox that is doing this (or in chrome if that is the browser but probably not)

can u go through ur add-ons and see if there is some u dont recognize?

post them here and I will let u know which one is doing this

if its not an addon can u tell us what search engine it goes to and also some more info if u can would help determine more if its a browser issue/virus/spyware/or what

Fortunately, I found the solution on another board. As a little bit of background, viruses sometimes will alter your "hosts" file, which is basically a file that controls the redirecting for your browsers (specifically, this file makes it faster for your computer to convert URLs into the relevant IP addresses by having a shortcut list of IP addresses instead of having to look them up when you type in the URL).

Anyway, enough background, here's what you need to do to fix:

(1) Click START > RUN > and type in "C:\windows\system32\drivers\<wbr>etc\hosts"
(2) When prompted, open the HOSTS file in either Notepad or Wordpad
(3) Delete all the lines of IP addresses in the text document except for "127.0.0.1 localhost".

If you find several lines of IP numbers other than localhost in your hosts file, then this is almost definitely your problem and will be fixed right away. If not, then this probably isn't the issue, but it's worth a look.

Let me know how it goes -- best of luck!

if u need more help bud there is a ton of solutions (some very lengthy) I found by searching Google search redirect virus https://www.google.com/search?q=goo...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

not sure why the main programs wont delete this but it sounds like if its a bad case u need to download something to remove it manually.. but dont fall for the PAY versions of these products.. there is plenty of free ways of removing it urself.

It's Chrome....

I tried the host thing, But when I search it opens a "sample" of the host.. still tried to delete the IP it mentioned and it said I wasn't able to save. Ill try the last link you posted. I am pretty sure i tried IE too and the same thing happened...

It's true when it comes to a computer. Mac is the way to go.

I see you understanding with tablets and phones going android. But no one jailbreaks their computer!

just go to "system restore" and restore your pc on the date prior to this occurence. Be sure to back up any files that you may want first...

unfortunately, many of the new-age viruses can bypass a restore :(
